This beautifully appointed, very unique, custom-built cabin is available to rent, either nightly or by the week. Aptly named “The Tree House” for the trees, built into the house! Enjoy beautiful lake and mountain views, luxury bedding and all of the comforts of home. Whether it’s for summer recreation, fall foliage or winter skiing, it is a perfect place for a romantic honeymoon, family getaway, couple's getaway or family reunion. Located on pristine Watauga Lake, you have access to 106 miles of shoreline and are surrounded by the Cherokee National Forest. The lake and mountain views from this cabin are spectacular. The Tree House is the perfect place to 'escape' the daily grind and enjoy nature's beauty from the comfort of a well-equipped lakeside cabin. It is a short walk to the private, community marina and gazebo, where you can swim, tie up your own boat or jet ski or enjoy a 24-foot Bennington Fish and Cruise Pontoon, for rent exclusively by Tree House guests.

ABSOLUTELY SMOKE FREE AND NO PETS. This is the owners second home, so definitely not a party house.

Perfect for us

My husband and myself, our 2 adult daughters and their husbands, and our first grandbaby, 4 months, and 3 dogs…all enjoyed the spaciousness of this house. We absolutely loved the surroundings and the pontoon ride every evening at sunset was our favorite time of each day. We loved going into Elizabethton..great options for delicious food and even played the Escape Game there. We thoroughly enjoyed our time! Loved this location and everything was wonderful.

Perfect Getaway

We were very pleased with the Treehouse, gorgeous views, Boat rental a must to enjoy the Watauga lake views. Cabin was very nicely decorated and clean. Beds were very comfortable. If you have trouble going up stairs may not be the place for you. kitchen level and living room you have to go upstairs. It is just beautiful though and comfy. Quiet neighborhood with beautiful homes. We will certainly be back but hope to stay longer to enjoy all that is offered.

Getaway weekend!

Many friends and I were able to enjoy a getaway here from the city Hustle of more crowded states. Wonderful location and the host communicated well even though they easily could not have. We were even given an early check in with late notice which was very helpful. Only have positive things to say!

Lovely house and pontoon boat in a beautiful location

Kim's home had lots of beautiful knotty pine woodwork, and we enjoyed using her pontoon boat on the lake. But the house was cold, and the thermostat wouldn't let us set it any higher than 72 degrees at nighttime. We eventually found a space heater for the master bedroom downstairs, so that helped us stay warmer on our last night there. Also, the stairs leading up to the kitchen/living room/dining room/2nd bathroom were really creaky. Otherwise, it was a lovely home.

I want to live like this forever!! It was AMAZING

Everything was perfect. The cabin itself was just beautiful, the views were outstanding, the "starter" amenities in the kitchen were above and beyond (I didn't need half the things I prepared for). Plus having access to the Pontoon was the cherry on the pie for sure. We experienced absolutely perfect weather (50s'/60's overnight and 70's/80's day). Then sitting in the swing at twilight reading a book was so serene, i want to be able to do that every night (I already miss it). And we even roasted marshmallows to make smores around the fire pit. We've already put this on the list to return again, and I can't wait.

Another great stay at Treehouse

This was our second visit to the Treehouse. The first was a few years ago with family, this time was with another couple. Every aspect of the visit was perfect and if anything, the property was even nicer than I had recalled. The host, Kim, is a pleasure to deal with, the property is pristine and well equipped, and the views are beautiful. We also rented the pontoon which is a very pleasurable addition. We will definitely return!

Great Location and beautiful cabin

The Treehouse is fantastic. We have stayed many times and will go again. The cabin is clean, tastefully decorated and has every amenity including gorgeous views of the lake and mountains! Communication with Kim is super easy, she is very responsive! Of course, we love the boat too:) Looking forward to visiting again soon.

Kim was great to work with from start to finish. The area is great to get away while just close enough to Johnson City or Boone. The home was spotless and well stocked. Great addition to be able to rent the pontoon.

Beautiful Mountain Home

We loved our stay at the treehouse! The house is definitely one of a kind and the highlight was being able to use the pontoon boat anytime during our stay! The kitchen was great for cooking big family breakfasts and dinners every day. We spent the rainy days watching tv and playing games at the large dining room table. We drove to grandfather mountain, elk river falls, linville falls, and the Mast Country store near blowing rock. Everything was an hour or less from the house. We did have a 10 month old with us and the house could be pretty loud at bedtime. The stairs make a lot of noise and you can hear everything from the floor above. We brought a sound machine and that helped a lot! Watauga lake is beautiful and this house is only a short walk from the boat. Highly recommend the treehouse and the pontoon boat along with it!

The weather was bad but still got a nice ride on the boat. Tree. House was beautiful. Stairs and ramp to boat was a little difficult for handy cap person. I would move the ducks over the bed and write some instructions for microwave and stove. Thank you

I was born in Arizona and raised in southern California. I attended college in Riverside and then embarked on a career in the hospitality industry. My success in this field would allow me to rise to be both a general manager and later corporate trainer for well-known restaurant chains.

Watauga Lake, nestled in the Appalachian Mountains and the Cherokee National Forest in northeastern Tennessee, enjoys the most stunningly beautiful lake and mountain views in the 'Volunteer State'. Started in 1942 and finally dammed on the last day of 1948, Watauga Lake is the TVA's highest-elevated reservoir in Tennessee. Surrounded by densely forested mountains in the "high country", Watauga Lake sits 1,959 feet above sea level at "full pool" (full summertime elevation). At Watauga Lake, it's usually a few degrees cooler than similar locations closer to sea level.

Watauga's surface covers 10.05 square miles of two mostly-rural Tennessee counties: Johnson County and Carter County. Watauga Lake is accessible only by winding mountain roads. The Appalachian Trail crosses the southwestern tip of Watauga Lake. The lake is located south of Mountain City (Tennessee), west of Boone (North Carolina), east of Elizabethton (Tennessee), southeast of Bristol (Tennessee), southwest of Damascus (Virginia), and northeast of Johnson City (Tennessee).

Part of Watauga Lake covers what was once Butler, Tennessee. Old Butler -- as it is now called -- was a town where Native Americans interacted with white settlers, Daniel Boone stopped to rest, and pioneer families farmed for generations. The TVA's decision to dam the Watauga and Elk Rivers sealed Old Butler's fate: it would soon lie on the bottom of the new lake.

Instead of watching Old Butler disappear, its citizens relocated their town to higher ground. "New" Butler is located lakeside and is home to the Butler Museum, which preserves the history of life in Old Butler. The museum has exhibits, artifacts, and displays with old quilts, photos of the old downtown, and other reminders of Old Butler. More than just a museum, it takes visitors back to the pre-Watauga Lake days of Old Butler.
