If you're looking for a memorable themed experience, here it is! We designed this little 493 sq ft one bedroom space to feel like you're inside the hull of a shipwrecked boat that beached on a deserted island.
Shipwreck "holes" in the "boat" provide views of a beautiful "deserted beach."
The space is cozy and very private, with just a couple of small windows. There is plenty of lighting for the day, but your sleeping hours can be completely dark as there is no window in the bedroom. Luxuriously silky bamboo linens add to your comfort- you may never want to get out of bed!
We added nautical elements everywhere you look, like authentic underwater dock lights, kitchen and bathroom galleys with copper piping and caged lights.
In the Captain's Quarters (bedroom), there is a custom-built queen bed that looks like a boat, with a lifesized shipwheel and colored mood lighting. The head (bathroom galley) lies behind a sliding barn door that closes completely and continues the nautical theme with copper pipes and a refreshing waterfall showerhead.
In the cabin (what you landlubbers might call a small den), there is an extra long twin daybed that appears to be suspended by ropes. It's 80" long. An adult can fit comfortably (or it could reasonably fit two small kiddos with one at each end, if you have a family of four).
Even with the fun theme, we spared no extra expense with soft fluffy Egyptian cotton towels, silky bamboo linens for both beds, and a great assortment of flavored teas and coffees.
There is even a fun hook and string game built into the wall of the main space.
The main entrance leads to your parking space, literally 5 steps out the door. Another door leads to the patio.
The shared patio space is lushly landscaped to complete your tropical getaway, with a comfy lounging area, gas grill, and a cute high top table for al fresco dining.
We saved the best for last: a high-end therapeutic hot tub with a full massage circuit. Each set of jets target a different set of muscles so you will feel completely relaxed if you do the full circuit. the hot tub is also a shared amenity.
Your rental is a well-done, converted garage space beneath another vacation rental upstairs, so it is possible to occasionally hear sounds from above, but we don't anticipate it will interrupt your stay. The main house in front is a vacation rental as well. (Note: The driveway in front is reserved for the guests renting the main house.)
You'll have complete privacy, and you also have access to the shared courtyard patio and hot tub, and your own assigned parking space literally 5 steps outside your door. There is additional parking on the street in front of the main house if you have more than one vehicle.
We are centrally located very close to downtown St. Petersburg, in the historical, diverse Euclid neighborhood, with brick-lined streets and easy access to the main freeway.
The popular biking/pedestrian path, the Pinellas Trail, connects just a block away, which runs from downtown St. Petersburg all the way to the beach.
Crescent Lake Park is a large park just a few blocks away, with winding paved pathways around the neighborhood lake. Don't tell anyone, but there have been many tales of a hidden treasure somewhere in the park! The park has lots of picnic benches and sitting areas, and is partly shaded with beautiful banyan trees. You'll also find friendly squirrels, wading birds, a playground, and tennis and pickleball courts.
Restaurants, gas, groceries, pharmacies, department stores, a couple of organic markets, homemade ice cream, a neighborhood fresh produce stand and even Trader Joe's are within a 5-10 minute drive. If you're a shopper there are also countless art galleries, unique craft and gift stores, boutiques, consignment and oddities shops to explore.
We have lived here a couple of years, and we still feel like we have barely scratched the surface.

We are within walking distance of a bus route, but most people use Uber, Lyft or taxi service to get around if they don't have a car. Feel free to bring your bicycles - they are also a popular mode of transportation here, and you can park them inside the courtyard. The popular biking/pedestrian path, the Pinellas Trail, connects just a block away, which runs from downtown St. Petersburg all the way to the beach.
It’s a quick 5-7 minute drive to downtown Saint Petersburg, 15-20 minutes to St Pete beach, 30 minutes to Raymond James Stadium, home of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (football), 10 minutes to Tropicana Field (Tampa Bay Rays baseball), 30 minutes to Amalie Arena (Tampa Bay Lightning hockey), and 35 minutes to Clearwater. Nearby commercial airports are Tampa International Airport (25 minutes in normal traffic) and St. Pete/Clearwater International Airport (20 minutes).
If you would like to venture a little further:
Picturesque Anna Maria Island, Bradenton Beach, and Sarasota are about 45 minutes-1 hour south. Enjoy the view from the Skyway Bridge on your way there, as you seemingly just keep going up, up and up, over the top of the bridge. If you’re lucky, you may drive over the bridge at the same time a cruise ship is gliding under. Make a trip over the bridge at night, too - the lighting adds to the excitement!
Oh, and Mickey wants you to know that Orlando is about 90 minutes to the north.
Assigned parking spaces are strictly enforced. If you are in an oversized vehicle, it may be necessary for you to park as close to the fence on your end as possible. Two vehicles, even oversized, should be able to fit on the pad if both park to the very end of their space. If your vehicle does not fit within your space, there is free street parking in the front of the main house, and you may access the property through the side gate at the driveway.
