Treetop is Aptly Named!
We were apprehensive about our choice of weeks (Christmas week, 2024) given months of rain and a rainy forecast, but owner Chip suggested we ignore the forecast as Roatan is a tiny speck in a giant ocean. Boy was he right! We had 3 straight days of clear sunny days and even the cloudy days were pleasant.The Treetops property is aptly named as it pokes out of the jungle just enough to see the ocean. Early mornings counting cruise ships was beautiful but the view of the open sky on a clear night was awe inspiring! Check in was easy as owner, Chip, arranged for his boat captain to shuttle us from the airport. The road up to the unit was quite steep, but the owner offered to rent us his car, making it much easier to get around. Apparently, there is a walking path through the jungle down to the disc golf course, but we never had a chance to use it. Besides, we didn't want to disturb the neighbor's horse that would graze every day below us:-)Communication with Chip was easy from the initial booking to the day-to-day questions. We even booked a half-day on his boat, the Dos Reyes, with Captain Julio. Although we enjoyed our Caribbean Christmas, I would definitely book again during the high-season. The combination of the accurately described "luxury suite" and the locality to 4 fine dining options down the hill was just what we were looking for. Even better, was we were equally situated between (and away from) West End and West Bay which were a 5 boat taxi ride away!
