Darum fiel die Entscheidung auf diese Unterkunft
This property was bought by my grandfather back in 19060's. A location with a lot of history and now a protected Natural Reserve. Its country within the city, here a little history.
Origins of Venezuela neighborhood
In the period occupied by the years 1812 to 1901, in Río Piedras town some propitious activities were carried out to create a community in the junction of the Guadalcanal road. In 1831, the Piedras River Bridge was rebuilt, which was made of wood and made of masonry. The bridge, very close to the junction, was the communication passage to the villages in the center of the island. The Guadalcanal junction then becomes the obligatory place to stop when entering or leaving the town.
At the height of 1900, the junction of the Guadalcanal road has already begun to be populated with houses, ranches, shops and inns. The first houses result in reproductions in the manner of the houses around the town square: the shops below and the houses above.
The third period, 1930 to 1940, is the time of the massive invasion of the properties in the Loma del Viento of the Guadalcanal road. This was a very difficult period for the Puerto Rican economy that mainly affected agricultural workers. Looking for better employment opportunities, they initiated a pattern of emigration from the countryside to urban spaces, with the towns of San Juan, Río Piedras and their being the most affected. The invasions were so massive that houses of cardboard and disposable materials began to be made.
"Guadalcanal", a place at the exit of the town and very close to the river, which enters towards the mountain. Now more of a historic community where the boilers of the aqueduct were placed that were going to take the water to the city. Due to the close relationship between the neighborhood-town of Río Piedras and the Guaracanal Camino, many of the events that occurred during the nineteenth century in Río Piedras, were determining factors in the formation of the community of Venezuela.

Das macht diese Unterkunft einzigartig
What makes us unique is being in San Juan's "New Millennium Forest"; One of the 20 forests that make up the public forest system of Puerto Rico. The forest is located east of the University of Puerto Rico Botanical Gardens in the Sabana Llana Sur district of San Juan making it one of the two state forests located within the capital's municipal boundaries.
In the forest, you'll find native birds, plants, and trees.
In 2003 the forest was added to the San Juan Ecological Corridor management zone, also managed by the municipality of San Juan which designates the area as ecologically important as it forms part of the hydrological basin of the estuary of San Juan Bay.
We also have for neighbours the University of Puerto Rico Botanical Gardens. More than 30,000 plants as well as lakes, waterfalls, sides, sculptures, native and endangered species make up the Botanical Garden of the University of Puerto Rico, located steps from the PR1 road from Río Piedras to Caguas, with entrance through Guaracanal Street.
Conceived as an educational center for scientific research and a sociocultural meeting place, it is a living laboratory for the study of tropical plants and the many species of birds that inhabit it. It is also a recreation and recreation area for its visitors.
Its premises cover about 289 ropes of land. It has a Herbarium that holds more than 36,000 specimens of dissected plants. The Garden provides the public with knowledge on topics related to native flora and information on ecological topics for the preparation of school projects. Guided tours, workshops, seminars, conferences and exhibitions are offered for students, the community and the general public. An important resource, with access available by appointment to researchers, is the Federal Forest Service Library.
The Garden is divided into two parts by the PR-1 road: the Northern Botanical Garden and the South Botanical Garden. We have direct access to the South Garden.
