Converted to a very high standard by the present owner, this spacious barn dates back over one hundred years. Surrounded by glorious open countryside, this barn is detached within a large lawned area, has lots of parking for cars and makes an ideal holiday home for families, sensible groups or a romantic and relaxing break.
The indoor heated swimming pool with large hot tub is attached to the property and has magnificent views over to the Yorkshire Dales.
Catley Hill is ideally positioned to visit a number of great towns and cities being only 9 miles from Durham City, 20 miles from the popular quayside in Newcastle upon Tyne, 10 miles from Hartlepool Marina and Historic Quay and just over an hour from the beautiful Northumberland Coast as it is from the Yorkshire Dales and the North Yorkshire Moors. So whether you wanted to stay at home and relax in our luxurious facilities or take a trip to one of the many interesting and nearby attractions, it is up to you.

Beautiful place, had an amazing weekend

Would highly recommend this property for anyone! Stayed with friends for the weekend and it had everything we needed and more! We didn’t stay with kids but we all said how perfect it would be for a family get away or a big family Christmas! Hosts were very welcoming and easy to contact! The Wifi and signal was a little hit and miss but that didn’t affect us too much. Would deffinitely stay here again!

Perfect accommodation for a family gathering

Lovely accommodation with everything you need. The children particularly loved the pool. One of the main reasons for booking was that the hot tub and pool are in the same room so the adults could supervise from the hot tub while the children played! The location is perfect - surrounded by countryside yet close to shops and amenities.The only suggestion would be that the pool could be a little warmer.

Brilliant house

Wonderful house with great swimming pool and hot tub. Everything clean. Kitchen has everything necessary. Layout of house brilliant for whole family. Kids loved the mezzanine bedroom. Loved everything about our stay there.

Incredible - could not fault it at all

I stayed here for my 21st birthday. First time me and my group had stayed in a place like this. It is so unique and mind blowing how amazing our stay was. We made use of all the facilities provided to us. The whole experience was perfect and could not of faulted it at all! Everything was what we were expecting and more.

Surprise family weekend getaway

The property didn’t disappoint even more luxurious than expected. The outside space with the trampoline and play equipment was well used by the little ones. Indoors was even more fun for everyone. Large pool with loads of inflatable items sometimes all thrown in for more excitement. The hot tub was a hit. The kitchen was well equipped. All bedrooms were immaculate with very comfortable beds. Lounge dining area spacious. All bathrooms were well stocked. The property was quiet no noise from traffic or other people. A beautiful peaceful oasis. All of us felt sorry to leave but felt relaxed and enjoyed our first holiday experience together. Thank you Barbara and Guy also a special thank to Marta.

All around Fabulous!

The property is beautiful, well equipped with everything you could ask for and spotlessly clean. Even the garden had everything we could have wanted. As a family of 10, with children ranging from 2 to 10, we aren’t easy to please, but this place was perfect. The owners were super responsive, and couldn’t possibly be more helpful. This was my sister’s second time at the property, but the first for most of us. Hopefully will not be our last. Thank you Barbara.

Wonderful Family Break

Our family group of 10 had a marvellous long weekend stay at The Barn. Everything was as described and Guy gave us a comprehensive tour of the property when we arrived. Our hosts were available if we needed them, but otherwise let us enjoy ourselves. The pool, large lawn area and play items were a big hit with the children. The two friendly dogs paid us a couple of visits, but were not a nuisance. We did not explore the area very much as we enjoyed the property so much. We also did not use any of the nearby eateries as we cooked for ourselves however, there are many places to eat and explore nearby. I would highly recommend a stay.

Birthday Celebration

My friends and I got to spend three nights in this beautiful Barn! The property was spotless, the pool and hot tub were perfect. A complementary Prosecco was kindly left for us to celebrate our little vacation. The views were stunning and a little bonus were the pets in the neighborhood which kindly paid us a couple of visits! Definitely recommend for a little getaway from a busy city life

10/10 - Couldn't ask for more!

What an amazing weekend! We booked for a friend's 50th birthday and could not have had a better time. The house is immaculate, very clean and supplied with everything you could possibly need. We had so much fun in the pool, the floaties are a great addition! A gorgeous afternoon in the sun on the patio area and lovely to meet the 2 very friendly dogs when they were on their walks. The booking process was really easy, Barbara replied to all of my messages quickly and was happy to help! We had a slight issue with the shower on our first night and Marta came straight round to sort it; it was great to know that they were on hand to help out (although they left us completely to ourselves apart from when we asked for their help) We 100% recommend and will be booking again for next year!
