Hubbards has it all for a quintessential Nova Scotia vacation or to just get away from the city for some nature and nurture.
Ideal for couples, or a couple of friends wanting to getaway, or small families (crib/bassinet can be provided). A beautiful new sofa bed with topper is available in the living area, with fully closing double doors and blackout curtains turns the living area into a separate bedroom.
What to offer:
Fresh seafood - fresh lobster, seafood dinners, etc
Famous beaches - Hubbards, Bayswater, Queensland (and many more that only the locals know about that we will share with you including a hidden “castle”!). Our home is up a long driveway, although the Ocean is just at the bottom, we recommend taking the car down the hill, and you can park and walk the ocean front road (about 5km long) which has quintessential old cottages, a busy fishing wharf and a beautiful beach.
Like fishing? We are famous for mackerel and squid fishing here in Birchy Head at Mill Cove wharf!
Hubbards Barn Farmers Market Saturday 9-12 May-October
There are many famous restaurants during summer season including Shore Club (famous for lobster dinner), Tuna Blue (restaurant and beer garden on the ocean), Trellis, Emile’s, Sheila’s fish and chip truck and year round Savary Plate, Savary Pit, Black harbour Distillery (weekend jams and home brewed liquor to die for). There are at least 4 incredible ice cream spots close to home for a sweet treat on a hot summer day!
Many activities - SUP rentals to explore the cove, Hubbards sailing club to learn to sail, the hooked rug museum to experience the largest hooked rug collection in N.S. and pick up a kit to do some at home, many playgrounds and parks, the rails to trails (100’s km of biking trails - bike all the way to Halifax!).
Or just stay at home, in the quiet cottage, with your own private backyard that edges the forest, and walk the 1km semi-cleared trail back to a freshwater lake right from your own backyard. You might see me in the vegetable gardens, please come down and pick some supper! Our chickens will provide you with some fresh eggs when you arrive and bread from our local incredible Portuguese baker at Cape Crow to get your breakfast started right and local. Play a board game, read a book from our large collection, bbq some food you pick up from the local market, this is a tranquil spot. Not suited to parties!
Finished exploring Hubbards? Well there’s lots more to see Chester (20mins), Mahone Bay (30mins) and Lunenburg (40mins), or if you want to see the city, Halifax and all it has to offer is just 45 mins away.
Curious about vegetable gardens and keeping chickens? I’m always happy to share my knowledge so please ask! The cottage is a short distance to the main house, but we are a quiet and respectful young family. We look forward to welcoming you to Acre Woods, where R&R are a priority, life is slow, and the sea smells salty.
