Welcome to the Artist's Penthouse, a stunning 1400 square foot retreat that comfortably sleeps six. This private, fully furnished two-bedroom, two-bath haven boasts breathtaking ocean and city views from the master bedroom, living room, and kitchen.
Step out onto one of the two decks for some fresh air—one located off the living room and the other an exclusive escape off the master bedroom. Both have expansive views of Catalina Island, downtown San Clemente and on really clear days San Clemente Island.
The penthouse features two smart TVs and panoramic WIFI that easily accommodates streaming, gaming, and more, ensuring a strong and reliable connection.
The fully stocked kitchen is equipped with a gas stove top, microwave, oven, refrigerator with ice maker, and a Nespresso machine for your coffee delights. Cozy up by the fireplace or cook up a feast with our gas grill.
Adorning the walls, the displayed art is created by talented local artists as well as the hosts themselves, adding a personal and creative touch to the space.
A dedicated workspace with a desk is available for those moments of inspiration or necessity.
Each room is equipped with an overhead fan, ensuring your comfort throughout your stay. The penthouse has forced heating to keep you comfortable.
Convenient off-street parking is available, along with lockable storage space at street level for your bikes, surfboards, and more, providing ease and security.
All linens, including beach towels and gear, are provided for your convenience, and the penthouse is pet-friendly.
A shared paid washer and dryer are available on-site for your laundry needs.
Downtown is a short walk where you can find, shopping , restaurants, wine bars, breweries and entertainment .The first Saturday of each month brings the arts and crafts fair on Del Mar, every Sunday is the Farmer's Market . Perfect Vacation Home
Lisa and Russell are the most generous hosts, so communicative and flexible! The Artist’s Penthouse is such a beautiful place, we really enjoyed our time here, including our dog! The apartment was very clean and inviting, so many windows to oversee the amazing ocean - we especially loved the patio! The beach is about one mile away, so is the cute downtown area! Many great restaurants and shops! Definitely stay here on your next CA vacation!! :)

We had such a wonderful time staying with Lisa and Russell. The artist's penthouse was absolutely beautiful. It clean and every attention to detail was appreciated. The artwork and sculptures added so much character. The outside deck provides a view of san clemente and dana point that you just can't beat. The beds and couch were comfortable and the kitchen provided everything we needed. They even welcomed us with a gift basket! Thank you Lisa and Russell! We can't wait to visit again!

Perfect
Stop reading this review and book the Artist's Penthouse NOW! This was a last minute trip, so my husband and I thought we'd just book a hotel for ease. I can't tell you how thankful we are that we re-thought that plan. For less than the price of a nice hotel room, we had a large, well-appointed home with a killer deck and too many amenities to name. Russ and Lisa even include the use of the washer and dryer. If you're looking for luxury on a limited budget, you've found it. These folks are insanely accommodating, and just plain awesome. Aside from all the unexpected things like a beautiful gift basket, there were also super helpful small touches like a folder full of local menus and cozy blankets for sitting by the fountain outside. If I could've found a way to haul the ridiculously comfortable living room sofa back to Texas, I definitely would've tried to buy it from them! Get this place now before someone else does. You won't be disappointed.

Penthouse Heaven!
We stayed over Thanksgiving with four "adult" children, and the penthouse was easily large enough to accommodate all of us. The double sink in the public bath made sharing the space easier. Beyond that, the views are simply spectacular. The private balcony off the master gave us a chance to lounge without company, and the large deck overlooking the town and ocean was perfect for playing Scrabble, eating dinner, and sharing a bottle of wine. Lisa and Russ met us upon arrival, and immediately responded to our questions about grocery stores, shopping, and beaches. We used the beach towels, umbrella, boogie boards, and cooler - and found the local beach to be our favorite. The kitchen was well stocked, making meals here a breeze. We have never booked the same property twice for travel, but this might be the exception!

Peaceful, uplifting, energizing retreat
I am so glad we found Russ and Lisa's property! The Artist's Penthouse is just what we needed, and it was perfect inside and out. You walk up the stairs, open the barn style door, enter the balcony and face a breathtaking, panoramic view of the ocean -- this is the go to place of the day. We had coffee, wine and conversation in this remarkable and well appointed outdoor space. We watched the sun rise and set, gazed at the starry night and cuddled up in the blankets to stave off the late summer chill. The inside space is tastefully artsy and warm; it felt like home. Wonderful music filled the air when we arrived, luring us inside ... where we found a welcome basket filled with goodies and a bottle of wine waiting for us! In our 10 years of being VRBO renters, this was a first! The kitchen was clean, and full of everything you need, including coffee to get the morning started. The sofa in the living space is great -- I think we sat 10 people around it comfortably. Bathrooms were spotless, loads of extra linens and towels, comfy beds and windows galore that allowed for more ocean views from inside. For beach goers, there are beach chairs, games and a boogie board. To top everything off, Russ and Lisa are onsite, and getting to know them is delightful. If we lived closer, I would pursue a great lifetime friendship with these two! If you're thinking about renting this VRBO, don't hesitate, snag it now. The Artist's Penthouse is a GEM.

Fabulous property, fabulous owners and a magical view !
My husband and I just returned from our amazing stay at Lisa and Russell's exceptional condo that we loved! It's better than in the pictures, and from the minute you open the door, a calmness takes over and it feels better than even being at home! The view is magical, the deck is so perfect for an afternoon or evening glass of wine, and the inside is equipped with everything you'll ever need for your vacation stay or extended stay. We use VRBO everywhere we travel and this is definitely one of the top and favorite one of ours. The only thing that can top how perfect the accommodations are, are the owners Lisa and Russell, who are very generous, and I felt like we've known them forever. Thank you both (and thank you to your daughter as well). We were blessed to find not only your place, but you. Thank you again for the lovely bottle of wine and birthday card that you so kindly left for me. That was very very special! We will definitely see you both again!

Perfect Spot!
The Artists Penthouse is the perfect spot to relax and take in beautiful views of the Pacific ocean and sunsets! The accommodations were ideal for us and our 2 teenagers. Everything you need is there. The indoor/outdoor living was the best! The BBQ unit worked perfectly too. Loved the "stay-cation" long weekend there! Close to town with lots to do. Wonderful Stay
Had a great time visiting San Clemente with our two teens. Views from the balcony are to die for and the location is close to the main street where there are a number of great restaurants. Lisa, Russel and their daughter were the perfect hosts and they have put a lot of care and thought into creating the Artist Penthouse. Beautifully decorated and maintained it is the perfect place to relax and enjoy the local attractions.

A Room with a View
I should say a penthouse with many views. This place is so enchanting. My husband and I have stayed in wonderful places all over the world, and this one would rate in the top. The setting is lovely overlooking the city of San Clemente and the ocean. Beautiful sunsets seen from a cozy comfortable deck with its trickling fountain. The penthouse is filled with beautiful art. Everything you need has been taken care of by Lisa and Russ, the friendly helpful hosts. San Clemente is a delightful city with many quaint restaurants and shops. There are many points of interest nearby. A drive along the Pacific coast is a must. I would highly recommend this property.

Beautiful Weekend Getaway!
We stopped off at the Artist Penthouse for a weekend getaway prior to my business trip in Laguna Niguel. What an amazing property ~ truly special! You could tell Lisa and Russ put so much love into this rental property! The apartment is beautifully decorated, and it was impeccably clean -- but the view from the deck were gorgeous! We prepared a few meals in-house and the apartment was equipped with everything we needed including an outdoor grill. Nothing like preparing a great meal and sitting on the deck with the beautiful view and a glass of wine! The area is safe and beautiful, we slept with the sliding glass doors wide open every night and were at peace. Beach, pier, restaurants, supermarket (Ralph's was the best, they sell wine/liquor) and shopping all within walking distance or a short drive. We will definitely be back in the future, such a great find! Thank you Lisa and Russ for making our 19th wedding anniversary so special! Regards, Jasmine

Perfect Ocean Getaway
We had a fantastic time at this San Clemente property. Our stay was perfect from start to finish! Upon arrival, we found a huge basket of goodies waiting for us along with sodas in the fridge. The owners were so hospitable and made sure we had everything we needed. They truly are pet-friendly so we were able to bring our small dog with us on vacation. The house had all the comforts of home and more! The ocean breeze and view from the deck was amazing. Proximity to the beach, shopping, restaurants and grocery store was excellent. We only planned to stay for a few days and when it came time to leave we regretted not being able to stay longer. The home was the perfect size for our family of five (plus pooch). The neighborhood was quiet and relaxed. No noisy neighbors. We will be back for sure!!

The property is as described with an excellent view of the Pacific and the town in between.
We really enjoyed our stay in San Clemente at the Artist's Penthouse. It was just like home to us as we also have a great view where we live. Lisa was quite responsive and helpful with the logistics and was available for questions and excellent restaurant suggestions. The top three restaurants in town per TripAdvisor and Lisa are all within walking distance of the Penthouse although the jaunt home requires a bit of a climb. The apartment was well appointed with plenty of comfortable furniture inside and out, lots of extra towels and bedding if needed, all the necessary kitchen utensils and a large screen TV with all of the channels. When we come to CA we usually go on daily adventures (Festival of the Arts and Pageant of the Masters in Laguna Beach) and various hikes from Newport to San Clemente so we are usually only "home" in the evenings. However, on this trip we spent a lot of time outside on the balcony during the day where we had our choice of direct sun or not and it was very relaxing. The view of the ocean and the town is spectacular. After the first day of our five day stay we were already plotting our next trip and this is where we would stay - especially if we were traveling with another couple. There is plenty of privacy within the apartment as well as with the other two occupants of the building. The I-5 Freeway is just a few blocks away and can be a little noisy but we got used to it. All in all it was a great and refreshing trip.

Amazing views!
We had a wonderful experience at Lisa and Russell's Artist Penthouse. We were greeted by Lisa and immediately knew we had made a great choice. The warmth of her personality matched the warmth of the Penthouse. Beautifully decorated and spacious, it felt like a home. The deck had an incredible view of San Clemente and the ocean. Believe me when I say the pictures did not do it justice... this place was really nice! We enjoyed the beach community of San Clemente and it's eclectic restaurants , downtown, and pier. Also, for you craft brew lovers, two great breweries in San Clemente. We loved the area and it was nice to come back to our "penthouse" in the evenings to enjoy the incredible views (day and night)! Thanks very much Lisa and Russell... we hope to be back! :)

Once you vacation at this artist penthouse you will never go anywhere else
This gorgeous, picturesque artist penthouse exceeded our expectations. It has a phenomenal view of the ocean and down town San Clemente. It is a short and adorable jaunt through downtown to the pier, beach and amazing hiking opportunities along the sand. The owner's, Lisa and Russ go above and beyond to make you feel at home, they provide every luxury you could ask for, including beach chairs, games and boogie boards. Lisa and Russ provide compassionate service which created the most exceptional vacation experience ever. We will definitely be back and i would recommend tbis location with all my heart and I am someone who teaches customer service for s living, therefore my standards are very high. Perfect getaway stay!
The Artist Penthouse was our absolutely perfect getaway place. I wish we would have had the forethought to stay for our entire Southern California vacation, but we only stayed for 3 nights. Still, it was a wonderful 3 days! The views from the master bedroom, the loving room and the outdoor living space was spectacular. We didn't get any sunsets during our stay, but we really didn't need it. The views of the ocean and Dana Point, even with high fog/clouds was enough. The apartment was well stocked and so very homey. We loved our visit with the Parks! Lisa and Russell are the best hosts ever! My 7-year-old son loved everything about it. This was the perfect place to detox after Disneyland. It's the type of place where you don't need TV or anything. Just to sit back on the patio or in the living room and relax is all you need. Perfect distance to downtown San Clemente as well as beaches. I would recommend it to everyone! We loved it here and will definitely be back!

Beautiful!
This apartment style house was beautiful and had an amazing view! But with that said this property is 3 apartments with two long term residents, one being the owners and they live right under the one being rented out. Although they didn't bother us we were extra careful so they wouldn't have a reason to.

The perfect Girl's Get-Away
My sister and I stayed in the Artist's Penthouse for an impromptu girl's getaway. This unit is ideally located near downtown San Clemente with easy freeway access. We walked to downtown for dinner, lunch and shopping and didn't need our car the entire weekend. We even walked to the Pier! We loved sitting on the terrace for happy hour and breakfast. The views are stunning! The owners Russ and Lisa are very attentive and made sure our stay was all that we had hoped for it to be.

A Piece of Paradise
My wife Barbara and I had an awesome experience at a lovely penthouse in San Clemente on a recent 3-day mini-vacation. We had the good fortune of relaxing at the Artists Penthouse Vacation Rental in San Clemente, CA. This romantic and scenic getaway is located in the hills overlooking San Clemente, Dana Point Harbor, Catalina Island and other local points of interest. The Artists Penthouse is owned by Russ & Lisa Parks who have spent incalculable amounts of time and money decorating every square inch of the residence with beach and art themed décor. The Parks own several vacation properties in the San Clemente area and take special pleasure finding objects de art to grace the floors, walls, shelves and other nooks throughout the properties. In addition to the art objects, the Parks have refinished walls, cupboards, windows, floors, furniture and everything else your eyes meet with their own special brand of fresh and engaging touches. There is ample room for a family with a master and second bedroom, kitchen, dining nook, spacious living room and a beautiful deck with a fountain and views to die for! We were able to view some of the other vacation properties owned by the Parks each of which has its own unique personality and beauty. All of them are conveniently located within walking distance to downtown San Clemente and a very short drive to other stellar destinations such as Dana Point Harbor, several 5-star hotels such as the Montage, Laguna Beach and other stellar destinations. Bottom line, if you are looking for an incredibly well-maintained, convenient and relaxing, romantic getaway option, the Artists Penthouse or any of the others is an opportunity to create a memory of a lifetime!!

The Perfect Location!
My wife and I stayed here with our six-month-old and a couple of friends for the Labor Day Weekend and this rental was perfect. The outdoor deck with the ocean view is much larger than I thought it would be looking at the pictures. There was enough room for all four of us to sit outside and face the ocean while we listened to music and talked. It's convenient to shops, the beach, and restaurants, and there was easy parking for both cars we brought with us. The inside of the unit is large, with the bedrooms down at the opposite end which allowed us to have fun and talk while the baby slept. The master bedroom has a large balcony with a view just as amazing as the deck. All of us are looking forward to coming back very soon.

Weary Travelers Warmly Welcomed!!!
After a long trek from Texas, yes, we drove, our weary bodies were warmly welcomed with such kind hospitality....and wine (Thanks Lisa!!). Our stay was outstanding! I can't boast enough. Russ and Lisa went above and beyond making our California trip one to remember. The views are spectacular, the house is stunning and fully equipped for cooking a mean meal, and the hosts exceptional. Thank-you for hosting our stay in sunny California! I will recommend this rental to everyone I know heading this way! A big Texas Thank-you!!

Great Local Staycation
Wow, talk about amazing location. The pics on the website do not do come close to the real views from pretty much every room in the house. We rented this for 3 nites as a local get away from the North OC and it was one of the most relaxing we have had in a while. Coffee every morning on the deck watching the sailboats and a gorgeous sunset every evening ! The place is well furnished and very comfortable and Lisa and Russ are excellent hosts and welcomed us with a cool basket of goodies (really nice an unexpected touch!). We did check out the local scene in San Clemente, all within walking distance, had dinner @ the Vine, also very good, and walked down to the street fair. Can't say enough good things about the place and would highly recommend to anyone looking for some R&R (or not !)
