The Space
Escape and unwind at this secluded mountain getaway where your closest neighbors
are wild turkeys and black bears. Our cabin is an outdoor lover’s dream come true with
plenty of open yard space to enjoy family picnics, social gatherings and telling stories by the fire, and
experiencing the real Smoky Mountains. Sit on the porch swing to drink your coffee or
take a nature walk every morning. It’s only a short, 15 minute drive to town if you can
pull yourself away from the tranquility that abounds. Perfect for small family vacations,
honeymooners, a girls’ gossip weekend or just to escape the demands of life.
Our more modern cabin sits where the original settler’s cabin once was. The area is rich
in mountain history where families lived off the land to survive.
Downstairs Open Floor Plan
Enjoy preparing home cooked meals for your family in our sweet little kitchen, the
outside grill, or pop leftovers in the microwave. The cabin is stocked with cookware,
dishes, and utensils. The dining table is in the living room downstairs with an open floor
plan that encourages conversation and catching up on all the family news and gossip.
Desserts taste even better while relaxing on the couch watching a good movie!
Bedrooms
The master bedroom is located downstairs with a Queen bed, and the upstairs loft
bedroom has two more queen beds. Loft bedrooms always remind me of Little House
on the Prairie. How about you?
Bathroom
The bathroom is located downstairs in an area convenient for all to reach with plenty of
towels. Did you know that back in the day the families that lived in the original cabin
used an outhouse on property and even carried their water from a nearby spring? I bet
you’re glad you won’t have to do that!
Laundry
If you enjoy the outdoors as much as we do, you’re gonna need to wash some clothes
while you’re here! It’s easy peasy using our stackable washer and drier near the
kitchen. Sure beats using a warsh board like Granny did, too.
Decks and Outdoor Space
The front deck has a porch swing, table & chairs, accessed from the living room area.
This is where most of the story-telling and lies will occur while listening to katy-dids at
night or watching for turkeys to pass in the daytime.
The back deck is where the hot tub is located and where absolute laziness transpires.
Maybe a little lovin’, too, at night if you know what I mean.
The fire pit and picnic table area is only a hop, skip and a jump from the cabin’s door.
This is what makes it a family retreat and where all the best memories are going to be
made!
Guest Access
We’ll provide a handy personalized door code for your stay and other cabin details in a
separate message a few days before your arrival. There’s plenty of parking for three
cars right outside the cabin.
You’ll have access to the entire cabin, plus the large yard space surrounding it. Nature
walks are soothing and enjoyable on the road leading to the cabin. This road dead
ends one mile from the cabin at the last private residence that also borders the National
Park.
Things to Note
This ain’t like living when the original cabin was standing, but it’s a MUCH more
authentic mountain experience than anywhere else in Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg.
Cell phone service is challenging, but there’s a booster inside the cabin. Wifi calling via
the Starlink internet is your best communication with the outside world.
Yes, there are critters in the mountains. It doesn’t necessarily mean a coon is going to
reach through the window and steal the cookie out of your hand, but it is quite likely
you’ll run into creatures of all kinds. Bugs, butterflies, ticks, turkeys, bobcats, bears,
coons, frogs, snakes, and possums are all possible nature experiences here, free of
charge.
