As soon as I first saw the town of Black Mountain, I fell in love with it. And as soon as I saw this house (which was only about 10 minutes later!) I fell in love with it. The area is tranquil and serene, and yet so close to the life and creativity of the town. The neighbors and locals are incredibly friendly.
The home itself has a year-round mountain view out front - critical to me to be able to look at a mountain while drinking my morning coffee! - and 360 views in the winter months. The ceiling of the entire home is made of old-growth local wood, giving it a cabin vibe, and sitting in front of a fire in the living room fireplace is one of my favorite places in the world to be.
This home is designed to be the perfect combination of colorful and fun (hence the "Bright") but also soft, peaceful, and serene (the "Haven"). There are three bedrooms, as well as very comfortable sleeping on the huge sofabed in the living room of the lower level. (We call it The Pit and it's amazing and fits about a dozen people!) There is also a set of children's bunk beds in the special child-friendly "room" (i.e. very large closet) in the upstairs bedroom, and the upstairs couch is also very comfortable for sleeping.
There are plenty of games and puzzles for all ages, in addition to toys and dinnerware for smaller children. Two living spaces makes it ideal for a larger group: send the kids down to watch a show on the 65 inch Smart TV on the Pit sofa while adults drink wine around a fire, or perhaps some are watching a basketball game downstairs while others prefer to be playing a board game upstairs. Not to mention four separate outdoor seating spaces - you can enjoy your family AND escape them for a few minutes here and there at the same time ;)
This home was lovingly designed to be my personal Brighthaven, and the only thing that makes it better is the ability to share the joy and peace of this place with others.
