Guest Access:
Enjoy full access to the entire home, small private beach area, and surrounding grounds during your stay.
The Neighborhood:
There is so much to do in the area. Topping is in Middlesex County, a peninsula bounded by the Rappannock and York Rivers, only 11 minutes to Urbanna, 1 hour to Williamsburg and Richmond (nice small airport), 1.15 minutes to Kings Dominion. This charming coastal region with small towns and farm and sea to table fare is known for having more boats than people. You can't truly experience Middlesex until you get out on the water so take time to discover charter services, sailing lessons, or kayak rentals.
Here you can get your seafood right from the source. Middlesex seafood markets sell fresh crabs, oysters, clams, scallops and fish harvested by our own watermen from the Chesapeake Bay's local waters.
Try the Museums of Middlesex: Deltaville Maritime Museum, Middlesex Museum, Colonial Seaport's Luna and Urbanna Museum will share the stories of boatbuilding, homegrown war heroes, oyster harvesting and more! Take the Museum in the Streets self-guided walking tour of 14 historical sites in Urbanna or drive the Historic Marker Trail.
For true relaxation, choose a sunset boat charter, have a meal and a cocktail overlooking the water or kayak the river waterways. If adventure is more speed, take an aerobatic ride in an open cockpit war plane or kick-up some dirt at the Virginia Motor Speedway races.
For the shopper in you, visit our boutique stores for men and women's clothing, home decor, art and coastal treasures. There are no chains stores here; you can meet the business owner and enjoy the personal customer service. Stroll the streets of small town Urbanna or stock-up while your anchored in Deltaville.
For more outdoor fun, Middlesex has pocket parks with a river view, nature trails with sculptures, children's garden, boat and kayak launches, marinas and docks. Middlesex County parks host events such as the farmers’ markets and outdoor music concerts.
And that's just Middlesex. The Northern Neck peninsula is just a 15 minute drive away and offers more small towns, fine restaurants, shops, and outdoor activities.
Getting Around:
A car is required to get here, but there is a fun trolley in nearby Urbanna called the "Pearl" for fun and hitting all the hot spots in Urbanna from Memorial Day to Labor Day. Or try a plane ride at Hummel Airfield.
