Perfect

This was our second year staying in same apartment. It was so easy and perfectly located, we did not want to risk another location. The hot water has challenges but once I messaged them, they were over in minutes to help. If you have a rental car, this could not be more perfect as the parking is adjacent to the home. Incredible location. Best view of our trip.

Spacious appt for 2 (bathroom quite small for 4). We enjoyed it very much. Parking can be a problem (weekend). Cortona is lovely, we enjoyed the village and its surroundings.

I wish we could have stayed longer. The outside patio is worth it alone! However, to get a view, you have to climb. Make sure your knees are strong and your luggage is light.

Amazing view

This is a wonderful property in a quiet area, but only a short walk to the piazza and restaurants. The only improvement I would recommend is the shower caddy; all of my travel sized items kept falling out of it.

Amazing!!

We loved absolutely everything about our stay in Cortona! Samantha and Alen were great communicators and made the check in easy. The apartment is perfection! From the tall, shuttered windows, beautiful tiled floors, high ceilings and amazing terrace, it was amazing!! The location couldn’t have been better and the views….. Even though I didn’t really use it, the kitchen was well stocked. All in all- wow!! We didn’t want to leave and hope to be back.

View and location could not be better.

The biggest problem is that we only stayed two nights. Although Cortona may be off the normal travel route, it has been our favorite town to visit. It is quaint, clean and very welcoming. Alen, who checked us in, was great as he gave perfect recommendations and was available via Whatsapp if we needed anything. If you rent a car, there is parking very, very close by. We did cooking classes at Fattoria Bistecca, which was highlight of trip. 7 km drive.

Fabulous stay

Lovely apartment inside the town walls with parking nearby just outside the gate. Great sun terrace with an outstanding view. Samantha is an amazing host and answered every question promptly. Cortona is a gorgeous place and we will be back.

Renters be aware: the photos do not match the property.. The bathroom was the most disgusting one I’ve seen in 3 months of traveling in Italy.. mold, mold & mold from the shower curtain that sticks to you whilst showering, the hand held that doesn’t stay put and slides down, more mold around the perimeter of the bathroom. I’m allergic to mold so I was suffering for two days. Then an additional cleaning fee in ‘cash’ was inconveniently shared with us after we booked the property, I understand a cleaning fee but there is no trace of cash so there’s no accountability, seems shady to pocket our cash. Next.. it was so beyond cold in the property my husband and I slept in our clothes to keep warm because they also charge for heat as I discovered from past customer feedback. Remediation of mold is necessary or this property should be shut down it’s extremely inappropriate.

Quaint, comfortable apartment with spectacular views from patio. Easy walking distance to main square. Alen, the property manager who checked us in was great; a Cortona resident who provided lots of suggestions. Samantha, the owner was also easy to work with and stayed in communication from booking to departure. Highly recommend property and host. Best view in Cortona

Our panoramic view from the huge terrace says it all. The valley lights at night were magical. We stayed for a month and caught three different SpaceX satellite launches one week. The basics are there, too. Super comfortable beds and linens, great wifi, clothes washer. The location is perfect, a 5 minute walk to the central piazza. I can't imagine any other property coming close to this.

Exactly What I wanted

I was in Tuscany for my son’s wedding in San Giuliano Terme. The week prior to wedding week, I drove solo to Cortona for some me time. The apartment was just what I wanted…the view from the large terrace overlooking Val di Chiana was spectacular. It is a short (uphill) walk to the piazzas and shops. Parking is free just below the apartment outside the city wall. You will need to carry your bag up two flights of steps. The apartment is a short walk from there. I selected Cortona as home base due to location/access to several of the nearby hill towns I wanted to visit. Anghiari (considered one of the most beautiful villages in Italy) and Montepulciano are two favorites. Sienna is lovely as well…bigger and busier. Of note, the apartment is perfect for solo, couples and small families. There is not a living room, but the master bedroom is spacious with a couch/futon. The fabulous terrace for me served as the main living space. Very nice place. Spectacular views. Great location.

Great apartment, ideal location

Great, clean, tastefully decorated and uncluttered apartment in the middle of everything with awesome view. Super responsive owner, comfortable beds, kitchen suitable for preparing meals with food market steps away. Parking available in easy walking distance inside the walls and outside ZTL. We spent many hours happily scaling/wandering Cortona from one end to the other & also made daytrips to Orvieto, Assisi, Poppi, Monterchi, Arezzo, happy to come back to Cortona as a home base. Lots of other greatest hits within driving distance. Shopping, art, garden, playground, Saturday market, piazza & street life all in walking distance. We stayed in heat wave in July and were fine with fans. Stayed with two kids and worked out great with layout, clothes washer, clean modern bathroom.

ABSOLUTELY PRECIOUS! & LOCATION PERFECTION!

Once we figured out parking (hardest part of the trip and requires patience if you want to park free), rolling our bags to the apt was a BREEZE and no where near as steep as I had anticipated, but do pack a rolling bag. The apt was exactly as pictured, but the image that Sam has posted of the view doesn't do it justice! It is amazing in every light of day or night. Sunsets are amazing from the wall by the museum outside the apt. You'll be lucky to get a little rain as the wet rooftops were so vibrant and with our trip being in Nov, the smoke from the chimney tops made for some amazing photos and was so "Disney-like!" We fought over who would take the first photo! The comfy pretty living room was a perfect size for my family of 4 after we borrowed the chair from the kitchen. Keep in mind that my adult children took over the sofa with their social media devices immediately. Which by the way, Sam's notes warned of the weak wifi connection, but we did not have a single problem with 4 very social adult photographers posting and emailing. We did not however watch tv... so can't report on why it's there :) haha. The kitchen has all the equipment you should need for cooking. We cooked breakfast daily & dinner a few nights to try our locally sourced pasta, cheese and wine! (yes, there's a dishwasher :) The bathroom has a shower, albeit it small, it did not lack hot water and there is a clothes washer w/ and drying racks and lots of space and empty shelving for your belongings. We over packed; didn't need the washer though. The Master bedroom is a great size and has a great window above the bed if you like an open window for sleeping! The second bedroom is WAY bigger than expected, however no storage, but it was perfect for my well traveled adult children who need very little. They said the beds were all they needed and they were perfect. (Daughter needed earplugs for brother's snoring #familyproblems.) Cortona is small in the BEST way and was an absolutely PERFECT location for exploring the Tuscan Hill Towns. After exploring Cortona on foot (every inch in and around the outside wall) and a local artist's studio in a nearby town, we visited Siena, Montepulciano, and Civita di Bagnoregio (the dying city, foot bridge access, population 8! SO FUN!). Sam couldn't have been more helpful! Answered every email within hrs if not immediately. She's adorable! We will go back, there is so much more to see in every season! Thanks Sam! We hope to meet you on our next visit! :D

We are a Canadian/British family that fell in love with Italy over a decade ago. After spending one too many winters in Canada, we decided to make the move to Italy full time, and we have never been happier, healthier and content.

Italy is special, and Tuscany is unlike anywhere we have ever experienced. Just ask anyone who has had the fortune of visiting. Even if only for a few days, weeks or even extended stay, there is something alluring about this magical place.

We fell madly, crazy and passionately in love with Cortona, its beauty, food, wine, community and people. We have learned to live life slowly, enjoy friendships, and savour the mouth-watering food!

Retirement is fantastic, but we are still young and like to keep busy. As my dad once said, “The worst part of retirement is that you never have holidays!”

How true! So, to keep us occupied, and mostly to meet more wonderful people from all over the world, we bought three apartments in the historical centre of Cortona to rent as tourist rentals. From these apartments (Casa di Amici) we have branched out and offer help to many local Italians that also have beautiful apartments for visitors to enjoy.

There are many places to stay in Tuscany and the Cortona area. However, we highly recommend you choose a location within the Historical centre. Although the surrounding Villas although very beautiful, are also quite remote and can be more inconvenient.

We love to open the door and be steps to cafes, restaurants, shops and of course nightly passeggiata!
