UMBRELLAS:
Please collapse the umbrellas when it gets windy, and after you have stopped using them, and especially at night. It helps if you also tie the straps around the umbrella in its down position. The reason for this is that the desert winds can come up unexpectedly, and they can be very strong.
strong enough to destroy the umbrellas. We've actually had the umbrella in the Baja deck of the pool lift off, come out of the water and sail into a neighbors' yard.
POOL
Enjoy the pool generally from May thru October. It’s not heated, but hey “It’s the Desert, right ?” We provide towels. On the Baja deck, there is a socket for an umbrella, and room for 2 plastic Adirondack chairs.
Our pool has an 8 ft deep end. Please use caution when using the pool, and NO DIVING.
POOL HEATER / CHILLER
If you want to heat or chill the pool for your stay, that can be arranged in advance by contacting us and paying an extra charge of $25.00 per day for each day of your stay, plus the number of days in advance of your stay that you choose. Keep in mind that raising the temperature of a pool takes time depending on what the starting water temp is and what the ambient air temperature is, and whether its windy or not.
All of these factors will vary and that means the time needed to raise the water temp to comfortable (75- 85 degrees) will vary. If you choose to pay for the heater / chiller (YES it can cool the water as well as heat it) I will have my pool service person adjust the run time of the system to 24 hours per day and set the temp for 85 degrees. That will usually raise the water temp about 5 degrees per day. So, for example, in the spring and fall, if the starting temperature of the water is 60 degrees, you'd need to run the heater for at least 3 days before you want to swim. Generally, in the summer the heater is not needed at all, but perhaps you'd like to bring the water temperature down?? Well, that can happen as well. By prior arrangement and payment of the extra charge of $25.00 per day, I can have the pool service person set the temp to say, 80 degrees, and the chiller will try to lower the water temp and keep it at that setting.
Running the heater in the winter months when the starting temperature of the water is in the upper 40's, it has taken about 10 days before the water reached the 80-degree mark.
that's pretty cost prohibitive, and I don't recommend anyone to run the heater in the winter.
