4-bedroom two level guest house next to Shupac Lake in Grayling
Escape to our tranquil waterfront lot on the pristine Shupac Lake, a designated trout lake by the Michigan DNR. Enjoy the lake, and surrounding resources of Lovells township. Fish, hunt, fly fish the famous Ausable River, head off-road to the many ORV and Snowmobile trails, hiking trails or just relax on the water on our Paddleboards, kayaks, and a canoe that are available for use. We also have a pontoon available for rental. The guest house rental is directly behind the owner's main house but completely separate.
Accommodations- Two-level 1911 sq. ft. guest house. With four bedrooms, 3 with queens, and 1 with two double bunks. Two full baths on the second floor. The 1st floor has a full kitchen and dining area with a large dining table and separate countertop. The electric stove/oven is ready for whatever you want to cook, and there is plenty of counter space for preparing meals. A large sink makes it a breeze to clean up. A full fridge with a freezer means you can stock up and relax during your stay. Lots of seating plus two couches. There is also a Roku TV, WIFI, and an elliptical in a corner. A spiral staircase in a corner goes up to the second floor. 1st floor has a central door next to a staircase to an upstairs deck that provides access through a main door or sliding doors on the other side.
The 2nd floor is the main living area. You enter the main room with a regulation billiard table, a card table, a bar sink, a bar fridge, and Keurig (bring your pods): Roku TV and WIFI, and a gated spiral staircase to the first floor. A full bathroom is located next to the bar. A hallway leads down to all four bedrooms, two on each side, and a full bathroom at the end of the hall. The first bedroom on the left has two bunks (sleeps four). The other bedrooms have queen beds. Each room has its own AC unit. The rooms are simple and comfortable.
There is handicapped access to the second floor via an inclined deck from the side parking area, with bench seating and a lovely firepit. Wood is available for purchase.
Shupac Lake is a 110-acre, no-wake Michigan DNR-designated stocked trout lake (no ice fishing) as deep as 100'. A DNR State Campground is a short walk from the property, with a large sandy beach and swim area open to the public. In front of the property is a shallow arm of the lake where Swans, Ducks, and sometimes Loons frequent. Awesome birdwatching opportunities and feel free to take our paddleboard, kayaks, or canoe out to explore. While the lake is primarily a trout lake, other fish species include perch, lots of sunfish, and occasional smallmouth and largemouth bass. The waters are crystal clear here, and you won't soon forget this lake!
Area Activities
- Spring, Summer, Fall
Fishing: Fly fishing the storied North Branch of the Ausable River, within short walking distance of the property. It was made famous by Henry Ford and other industry barons who vacationed around here. Plenty of access points are along the river, and you can wade for miles. A short distance drive to the mainstream or south branch of the AuSable. Some areas are flies only.
Lakes: There are numerous other areas like East and West Twin, Otsego Lake, Lake Margrethe, Higgins Lake, and Houghton Lake.
Trails - Bike or hike miles of cross-country trails in the Huron Manistee National Forest. Many ORV trails for 4-wheelers nearby make this area a mecca for outdoors enthusiasts.
Golfing - Bring your clubs because there are outstanding Golf opportunities in Gaylord – Tree Tops Golf Courses, Gaylord Golf Club, Loon Golf Club, Michaywe Golf Courses, Otsego Resort golf courses, Forest Dunes, and many more.
-Winter
This area has outstanding cross-country skiing, snowmobiling, and downhill skiing at Treetops, Ostego, Boyne, and more.
Lovells (1 mile) Has - Riverside Tavern, Lovells EZ Mart, and North Branch Outing Club (Fly fishing, Bed & Breakfast, Guide Service, and Fly Shop on the North Branch of the Au Sable River).
Our Lovells location is 20 min to Lewiston, 20 min to Frederick, 30 min to Gaylord, 1.25 hr to Traverse City and Petoskey, and just 1.5 hr to Mackinaw City.
