The Ironbound is a unique section of Newark, known for its close-knit Portuguese/Brazilian community, and its terrific restaurants.
If you like dining out, this is the place to be. Restaurants within a 5-minute walk offer a great selection of BBQ and seafood, and a lively, European atmosphere, including long unhurried dinners, and outside seating.
It takes less than 5 minutes to walk to Penn Station Newark. From there you can take the Newark subway to Prudential, University Hospital, Rutgers University, a PATH train to NYC ( 30 minutes), or a NJ Transit/Amtrak train to the rest of the US.
Plenty of Lyft and Uber drivers roam the area (usually about a 5-minute wait), and many Zip cars live nearby. Electric scooters (Bird and Veo) for rent are plentiful too.
Parking.
There is a ***small*** space right in front of the house where you may be able to put a small car. If you do so, please be careful not to block the road. Other cars must be able to pass the house (and your car) at all times of the day; this is a public road. If you block the road, you risk a hefty ticket.
Street parking is free in the area, but it is not always easy to find a spot. Especially on the weekend, you may have to circle a few blocks to find one.
As an alternative, consider the Edison Parking on Market Street, it is a 5-minute walk from the house and costs ~20$ for 24 hours.
