Liked the place so much we came back with our adult kids.

We have stayed at this property in the past with a group of friends. We liked it so much we decided to give our adult kids and their significant other a weekend getaway with us at your property. They loved it!! Unfortunately it looks like it needs a little TLC to make it an amazing property. Overall though we enjoyed it and would come back again for sure!

Family gathering

Have been visiting family in galena for years, and this time decided to rent a home rather then stay with family. This home was beautiful and spacious. The downstairs had a bit of a mildew smell, but the home was very clean. Communication was easy and quick! Would rent again!

Nice property in a quiet area

Large house with many rooms and bathrooms. Able to accommodate our group of 5 women. Wish we could have stayed longer. The only suggestion I have would be to have a fire pit. That would have been perfect. Overall we had a great stay and would definitely come back here

Everything we needed but..

Loved the place everything we needed . Only complaint was the upstairs master had a lot of Asian beetles in it . Was woke up a few times from them crawling on me in the bed . I understand they are a nuisance but in the winter should be vacuumed out before we stay .

Perfect Stay

If you like rustic, this is the place for you! Absolutely gorgeous view of the hills around us. The place is a bit dated, but for a night stay for myself and my kids to celebrate Christmas, it couldn't have been better! It's a little dark inside, but was a perfect setting with the Christmas tree and decor. The hot tub was awesome at night, and it was even snowing both nights and could as could be, as we had a cold front come through. We'd definitely return and would like to stay in the spring. Possibly do every Christmas there! Just a fun, cozy place!

BEAUTIFUL SCENERY & OWNERS CLUB AMENITIES

Huge house (wouldn't EVER refer to it as a "resort"). Let's start w/ the GOOD: The views are BREATHTAKING! The hot tub on the deck was SO important lol (we all needed the pre-sleep calm from it), The wood-burning fireplace inside the combined living/dining room & open kitchen area was PERFECT for the nightly country chill. The Owners Club amenities are FABULOUS!!!! Outdoor & indoor pools, play areas, ample parking, access to boat rentals, etc. at the marina (we rented a pontoon our last day, highlight of our weekend). Here's the not so good: the cleanliness of the interior left much to be desired. Spider webs everywhere, our son's toy rolled under the master bed and when I looked underneath, I slightly gasped., stove wasn't clean enough that smells from food remnants, etc. on burners caused heavy burning odors. The bed linens smelled, not sure like what, but it wasn't pleasant. All in all, okay place to stay. Don't expect luxury, bring a few of your own bath towels (plus pool towels, if needed for your use), a sheet set for each bed that will be occupied, bring dishwashing liquid and/or dishwashing machine detergent.

We had a wonderful short Memorial Day stay! The great room was roomy and comfortable and we spent our time together there, and the master bedroom was lovely. Our teens enjoyed the hot tub. Thanks for a great place!

Listing was very accurate and exactly what we expected when we got there !

The property was perfect for our little getaway, there was an ice storm all weekend which made the driveway a little tough to navigate but they had someone out salting it right away. No WiFi was the only complaint we could have which we knew going there wasn’t any, so not really a complaint just a suggestion!

Exactly as described

Property was exactly as described. 4 bedrooms and a large great room offer plenty of space for spending time together or time apart. Lack of WiFi and poor cell signal was disappointing but also as described. Don’t choose the loft bedroom if you don’t like the sun to wake you up in the morning—curtains are not blackout. Narrow gravel driveway somewhat hard to maneuver/park—but again, that was as shown in the pics. Worked well for our girls getaway weekend.

Rustic

If you are up for a rustic getaway, this is your place. We came with two other couples plus kids and had a blast. Yes the ceiling leaked and there were spiders and centipedes but there was more quality time with friends, laughs, meals shared and joy to be had by all.

Large open floor plan

This house fit our needs perfectly. Large living room with working wood burning fireplace was just what our getaway group was looking for. The kitchen is well-stocked with everything we needed to cook several meals. The house is not new, but it is in great shape ... has a large amount of wood which is shown in the pictures ... made it nice and cozy on a cool, rainy early fall weekend. The home sits on a very large lot and while you can see other houses they were quite far away which made it nice and private. We even used the hot tub on the deck in-between rain showers. The owners were quick to respond to all of my pre-trip questions. The only downside was not having internet at the home. I would stay there again.

The things we wish we had known

We took a family trip with 5 adults and 1 toddler. The great room was amazing and allowed us all to be together in one space with enough tables for puzzles, games, eating, etc. There is a children's gate to the basement, for which I was very grateful and a spare one in the closet to block off the upstairs. For the most part, this was a nice space for us to get together and was well stocked in the kitchen and even had extra box fans. My husband LOVED the hot tub in the early mornings and late at night. There is a very comprehensive guide to what to do/where to go/eat in Galena which helped us plan a lunch and a dinner out. My recommendations: 1. I think that Rosebud needs to do a better job at listing all the amenities. We packed so many extra things that we didn't need to because they were already provided in the house (box fans, child's seat, child's gate, etc) 2. We were kind of hoping with such a large yard, amazing view and it being summer time there would be a fire pit of some sort, there is not, only an indoor fireplace. 3. It should be noted that there are NO bedrooms on the main floor which was a bit inconvenient. 4. For the most part, the house would be considered "clean" but there were cobwebs and dead bugs EVERYWHERE and the basement is VERY damp and the tile floors get a little slippery. Getting into bed at night was a little.....uncomfortable (nothing like a wet sheet). 5. The no wifi or phone service was also a little bit inconvenient but was something that we did no about in advance. For the most part, the stay was what we needed but the above are a few things I wish we had known prior to our visit.

Great property, house, location, views

Overall we loved our stay at this log home. The rooms were spacious and very comfortable. The location was great, the owners club was only a 10 minute walk away so the kids were able to come and go without needing rides constantly. The club house amenities were great with both an indoor and outdoor pool, exercise room, indoor basketball court, as well as the game room with free pool tables and ping pong tables. The main reason I did not rate this house as 5 stars is that there are a few maintenance issues. There is an obvious leak in the garage which is under the deck. When it rains, the water seeps into the bedroom which shares a wall with the garage as well as the hallway, when trying to exit the house through the garage during the rain, it was like walking through a water fall in order to get out. The basement has a musty smell probably due to this water leakage issue. Another reason I did not give 5 stars was because the cell phone signal was very poor. We had both Verizon and AT&T phones and neither could get data connections, occasionally a phone call or text would make it's way through, but for the most part, there was no service. For those who are trying to get away from these modern conveniences this may not be an issue, however, I was on call for work during my stay there, and I had to constantly drive towards the club house to get any sort of signal and to access the internet. I had a portable Mi-fi with me, but since it relied on Verizon service, it did me no good. I just needed to drive a few blocks in either direction to get signal. The kitchen was a bit outdated, but all of the appliances worked without issue. Kitchen was well equipped with plenty of dishes, pots, pans, bowls, utensils. We used the grill and oven. The air conditioning worked great, which was good since it was 90+ degrees during our stay. There was water dripping above the kitchen table from the ceiling, we assume it was related to the air conditioning condenser, we just made sure not to sit in the location where the water was dripping. The hot tub was a plus. The upstairs master bedroom was very charming and comfortable, definitely the best bedroom in the house. There were all kinds of games and puzzles located throughout the house for our use. Lots of sitting areas with 3 tables and plenty of chairs. I would definitely consider coming again, just be aware you may be more "off the grid" than you are used to :)
