Stay at a hotel instead
--No reviews posted for the property in VRBO as it was a new listing. Host indicated all previous reviews were 5 stars.
--2.5 Hours before check-in, no address or access code was provided; I contacted VRBO directly since I couldn't contact the host, whose initial communication indicated I'd receive check-in information between 12 and 24 hours before check-in--and the host didn't answer their calls, but the information instantly came through. After that, the host was prompt with answering questions.
--Mold in the washing machine; host passed the buck to the cleaning company, but it's ultimately his job to ensure they're doing what's expected.
--Light for the upstairs hall wasn't on during our stay. I tried available switches without success.
--No railings on the front porch or within the unit on the stairs from the kitchen to the laundry/back bedroom. The stairs in the unit were narrow and I had to catch myself a couple times so I didn't fall.
--The mattress and fitted sheet--no flat sheets on any of the beds--were stained. Again, the blame was shared with the cleaning company. The host indicated nobody had ever asked why no top sheets were used. Host provided with pics of mold and bedding concerns.
--Living room furniture was uncomfortable.
--Inadequate lighting in most rooms; shaving/putting on makeup in the bathroom was a challenge.
--Only linens provided for pull-out sofabed were a small throw and a flat sheet; description indicated all bedding was present.
