This artistic and comfy three story guesthouse is nestled in a quiet area in downtown Grass Valley. Relax one block from Main steet, with a treetop bedroom, full kitchen, bathtub, lounge, and shared hotub.
This charming guesthouse is behind the main house. Converted from an actual Carriage House, this historical three story building has been transformed into a fun and rejuvenating place to stay. The bedroom on the top floor has a queen bed, dresser, and closet. With both east and west facing windows, as well as large opening south facing skylights, this is a magical place to be at tree-top level and get some perspective. There is a full length mirror and closet with hangers. The ladder/staircase to get to the bedroom was built out of fresh local wood milled by a friend, as well as the live edge window sills. Note: The staircase/ ladder up to the bedroom is like steep stairs or a gentle ladder, so be prepared for that! There are handrails to support you.
The kitchen has everything you need to make a nice meal, with granite countertops, a full stove and oven, cooking pots and pans, and all the utensils and dishes. Cool your refreshing beverages in the refrigerator, and enjoy hot complimentary tea (herbal and caffeinated), as well as organic French Press coffee. Toaster oven, microwave, cork screw, and all the things!
There is a sitting area with a couch and coffee table, as well as a dining table with two chairs. There are two additional fold out dining chairs located under the stairs if you have four people.
Your entrance is on the ground level, through two beautiful French doors with a keypad entry. This area features a lounge with a couch, and blow up queen air mattress (with plug in pump). There is a full size washer and dryer you are welcome to use, as well as a sink and mirror.
Your private driveway pulls you right up to the entrance. The driveway is one car wide, and two cars deep when you pull all the way forward. There's an outdoor table and chairs on your private patio.
The entrance to the hot tub is in the lounge, the door just to the left of the sink. Through this door you enter a foyer that is shared with the main house, and the door to hot tub. There is a redwood deck, hot/cold outdoor shower, dining table with four chairs, and a wooden bench. This area is shared with the guests of the main house, which is also a vacation home. If you would like to soak in the hot tub, please have a cleansing rinse in the shower beforehand to help keep the tub as clean as possible. Note: Bathing suits are not required, but are recommended due to it being a shared space, as well as being visible from the (respectful and kind) neighbors windows.
You have total private access to the back driveway, and the whole three story Carriage Guest House. This includes a downstairs lounge room, washer dryer, first floor kitchen, full bathroom with tub, kitchen, living/ dining area and upstairs bedroom with closet.
You have shared access to the Foyer, side deck, outdoor dining area, hot tub, and outdoor shower.
I live nearby and can come by if you need anything!
This home is one block from downtown Grass Valley, a vibrant gold rush town with artsy shops, delicious restaurants, local breweries, and a rich history. Enjoy shows at the movie theater, as well as nightly live music at The Center for the Arts and local restaurants. Condon Park is close by with a large playground, picnic areas, frisbee golf, hiking trails and a wild creek. Empire Mine State Park is close by- with miles of open hiking trails, as well as a Gold Rush museum with mining equipment, tunnels, and buildings. There is a fascinating 3D map of the extensive underground "golden" tunnels throughout the area.
The Yuba River is a 15 minute drive, with epic swimming holes.
Nevada City- our cute neighboring town is a 5 minute drive down the freeway. Enjoy more great shops, restaurants and vibrant nightlife. Also in Nevada City, check out Deer Creek for cool swimming and hiking.
Tahoe and skiing are only an hour away, so this is a great place to stay if you are spending the day on the slopes.
Walking on foot is a great way to get around the neighborhood. Downtown Grass Valley is half a block away. There is also a transit station nearby with buses to Nevada City, Auburn, and Sacramento Airport.
Stairs are required to access the first story kitchen and bathroom, and a steeper ladder stairs to access the upstairs bedroom. There are also five steps up to the hotub area.
Your private driveway parking is accessed from Maiden Lane, which is a one way street heading down towards Richardson. Follow directions for 208 Maiden Lane (the neighbors house), and come one more driveway to the Salmon Colored guesthouse with a long skinny cement driveway leading to French doors. Be careful as you pull in and out of the driveway, to not scrape your car on the cement wall. Welcome Home.
