Overall Disappointing, Despite Great Location
We did not stay at this unit because of a water leak. Relocated to another unit in a nearby condo. While the new unit was in a quiet, beautiful building, with a fabulous oceanfront view, we experienced problems right from the start. The a/c system that covered the bedrooms did not work. Needed an entirely new HVAC system, which could obviously not be replaced during our stay. Uncomfortable sleeping. Also, the combination lock to the unit door broke, was not fixed while we there, so door remained unsecured most of the week when we were all had to be away. No keys or other alternatives were offered for locking the door. JD offered to move us to yet another unit midweek, and we declined, as we are all 65+ and did not have the energy or time to pack and unpack again. Never been in a VRBO accomodation so neglected as this one--light bulbs out, non working lamps, no night stands. One of us had to use our suitcase as a night stand. One bathroom exhaust fan sounds like a plane taking off. The dishwasher is unbalanced and tilts forward. As JD had to leave town during our stay in order to help in NC with hurricane relief, there was apparently no one else at Grand Strand Mgt in Myrtle Beach who could help us. JD actually implied that our problems were nothing compared to hurricane victims. What?!? Of course they're not!! Is that fair to us to make such a comparison? This is your business, that's your personal life. Nice people, but woefully unprepared to handle our stay.
