Chaffee Cottage, circa 2006, was designed from an 18th-century cape and has all the modern-day amenities, such as central air, washer/dryer, dishwasher, outdoor shower, high-speed wireless internet and cable HDTV.

Located in the historic Adamsville neighborhood of Little Compton, the cottage is less than a mile from the Atlantic ocean as the bird flies, and just a two-mile drive along winding country roads and beautiful pastoral settings to the nearest beach. There are several more beaches within a fifteen-minute driving distance of the cottage, including (but not limited to) Horseneck, Goosewing, South Shore and Elephant Rock beaches. You'll find beautiful country roads, pristine beaches, rolling pastures, antique shops, wineries and nature preserves - all within biking or driving distance. Tiverton Four Corners with dining, shopping, and antiquing is just a few minutes away.

The ground floor of the cottage has a fully-equipped kitchen with a dining area, a living room with comfortable seating and a TV, a light-filled sunroom ideal for reading or relaxing, a bedroom with two twin beds (that can be pushed together to make a king), a full bathroom with washer and dryer, and an equipped office for those who may need to work while away. On the second-floor you will find the primary bedroom (with a queen bed and sitting area) and a full bathroom.

The gracious property is ringed by a classic Rhode Island stone fence. Just behind the house is an outdoor sitting and dining area with a grill. An outdoor shower is nearby.

We are dog friendly at Chaffee Cottage and our golden doodle, Rhodie, calls it his own when he is there. We do, however, reserve the right to consider each request on an individual basis. We ask our guests bringing dogs to please be aware that there is a $100 fee per pet/week applied.

We have recently become the new owners of Chafee Cottage and are excited to cary on the tradition of hosting guests. The cottage has 60+ 5-star reviews in its previous listing before we bought it and we hope you will enjoy it as much as past guests have.

Please note that from June 15-September 15t (the summer peak season), only week long rentals from Saturday to Saturday will be accepted.

Gem by the sea!

Wow! I can't say enough about this lovely home. The location is fabulous as it is conveniently located between all the things we wanted to see and do in both Little Compton and Westport...AND it is very close to the coast and beautiful nature preserves. The house is perfect for a couple or small family with it's two bedrooms which feel very private from one another and ample spaces to relax. The kitchen had everything we needed, the dining space is divine as it looks out over the beautiful yard with mature trees, lawn, and stone walls. The house is immaculately clean with beautiful and comfortable furnishings. The yard is heavenly! My dogs enjoyed lounging in the yard and we spent many hours just sitting, reading, and listening to birds. One note to future guests who bring dogs -- the grounds are extremely well cared for and I hope that all guests will help keep it as lovely as they found it. Last, I want to thank the hosts for the easy communication and check in. I am sure I am forgetting something as this place has so much to offer. Will be back for sure!!

While we are from Philadelphia, we moved to Little Compton during the pandemic and fell in love with the beautiful countryside, extraordinary beaches, farm-stands, and hiking trails. After several years of renting, we recently became the next stewards of the Chaffee Cottage and look forward to carrying on the hospitality of its previous owners. The Cottage is our second home, but when we can't be there, we feel privileged to share it with others who have come to love the Little Compton area.

The cottage is true to its Rhode Island shore history, reflecting the simple beauty of an original cape cottage, while offering every comfort today's vacationers might want. As the Cottage is our second home, we have made sure that everything from the kitchen amenities to the living room furniture are comfortable and welcoming for us and our guests. We ask that our guests care for the cottage as we would.
