While the property was as shown in the pictures, the pictures hid a lot of details of a very run-down and minimally maintained property. Dirty, stained carpet, poorly painted walls, dirty showers, beat-up kitchen cabinets, and thin, gross bedspreads (we didn't use them and kept them in the closet, choosing to use our own blankets instead). What isn't shown by pictures is an overwhelming smell of mold and mildew. While I understand that this is a beach location in a humid environment, I've never stayed in a rental property on Wrightsville that smelled that strongly of mildew, especially in the bedroom and bathroom on the main floor. Some positive points about the property that stood out: a newer deck surface (looked like artificial wood, very good condition), comfortable mattresses, newer washer, efficient dryer that dried clothes quickly, and ample seating around a large kitchen table. Often I find seating for 4-6 in a house that sleeps 10-11. Not so for this property, which was a definite plus. There were also plenty of plates, bowls, silverware, and glasses - again, I've seen 4 dinner plates in a house for 10, but this particular property was appropriately stocked without being overflowing. There was also room in the cabinets for my own food, which was a HUGE plus, in my opinion. So many times I find cupboards overflowing with pots, pans, and a mishmash of kitchen ware, but nowhere to keep the few groceries my family needs for the week. This house had plenty of cabinet space for our cereal, snacks, etc. The distance to the beach was fantastic, and I liked that there was parking for 4 cars. Overall, a decent property if they can get the mildew/mold smell under control, and do a few updates (replace carpet with tile, address the condition of the bathrooms and kitchen cabinets, etc). Somewhat overpriced for the condition, in my opinion, and probably won't stay there again.
