Avoid this property and Casago (property management) if at all possible

Apologies for the long-winded reviewed. I've been staying at peer-to-peer vacation properties for 10 years including multiple 3rd world countries and this is the first negative review I've ever written. Directions were wrong; address provided was 7+ miles from location and approximate written directions were worthless (6 professional adults, 3 with professional navigation experience [military land navigation, forecast meteorology, and gas/oil topography] could not find it even with the assistance of a local at a business adjacent to the property manager, took 2 hours. When we called for help after hours, it went to someone in the Phillippines which prompts even more questions like if there is an emergency, why is the on call person on the other side of the world? Despite what the property management says, I do not believe the property was cleaned before we got there; the living room was covered in dead ladybugs (probably from the trash being stored under the house) and there was mouse feces on the downstairs bed. None of the beds had fitted sheets; mattress covers and top sheets as the fitted sheets. One of the dining room chairs had a broken back that wasn't marked or obvious; thankfully no one was injured from sitting on it. Don't plan on grilling; it's a smoker, so unless someone wants to spend all day stoking the smoker, you're out of luck. I feel bad writing this review because the property owners are probably decent folks, hopefully they change management companies.

Great ski getaway

The house was the perfect size for our families. We loved having room for all 7 kids to sleep in the upstairs together. It was very convenient getting to the ski slope each day.

Wonderful time at Snowshoe Lodge

Enjoyed our weekend at Snowshoe thanks to this great house! There was plenty of room for 10 and a short drive to the mountain top. We wish the hot tub would've been available during the winter months, but the sunrises, sunsets, and view of the stars more than made for it! We would definitely stay here again and can't thank our hosts enough!

Great stay for a weekend ski trip

House was amazing and only 12 minute drive from the mountain. House was clean and large enough to not feel crowded with 10 of us. Would recommend it to anyone.

Great Stay!

This place was so clean and well organized! Loved staying here, but would definitely recommend bringing a car that has either all wheel drive or 4 wheel drive if you are visiting in the winter because the driveway can be difficult with the snow. Other than that we had a flawless visit!

Christmas getaway

Very spacious. Gave all of us (12) plenty of room to spread out in. The hot tub was a big hit! Beautiful secluded home. Loved not having any WiFi for a few days. Forced us to be together which is what I wanted:)

Nice house with beautiful views

We enjoyed our stay at White Tail Lodge with family members. The views are amazing with very few neighboring properties in sight, for the ultimate privacy. The property is about a mile from the nearest Snow Shoe Resort entrance, and then another 2-3 miles up Snow Shoe Drive to reach the village center. The house is quite large with lots of spaces for gathering, and overall clean. We would like to return in the future.

Huge cabin that's so nice and close to Snowshoe

The place was awesome for our group that went to the UCI World Cup races. We had a small issue with water but the property manager was awesome and got it working. We loved the big, wrap around porch and hot tub as well.

Perfect!

This cabin was awesome! Couldn’t ask for a better location for those wanting to stay with a large group. There were 10 of us and MORE than enough room for all of us! Only 5 minute drive from the house to ski. The hot tub was fabulous and we enjoyed every second of our stay here! The property owner even called to check in on us on the landline when we experienced bad weather one day! This was the perfect choice for us.

Perfect Mountain Getaway

Our group had a great getaway at this house! The house is very large and roomy, and was perfect for our group of 8. We had no issues finding the house, despite losing cell service an hour or so out. The house is 10 minutes away from the Village at Snowshoe Mountain where it was easy to get service if needed. We enjoyed the peace and quiet of the house, the perfect fall weather and changing leaves, and the hot tub was a perfect touch. We enjoyed it every night. Would highly recommend this property and we hope to stay here again!

Whitetail Lodge Friends weekend

The house is basically clean but is starting to show its age and amount of abuse from probably being a rental. It is clean but carpets. Chairs and couches could use a deep clean. The house is well stocked and was plenty large enough for our group of 10. We enjoyed the location. The stars were amazingly bright from the deck and hot tub.

The description of the property and pictures are spot on, it was nice not having internet service!! Kids had a blast even though they thought they would not without interest, there were board games, house so big there was plenty of space, we will definitely be back at this location! Great location

The house was very close to the mountain and fit our needs for a large party. The host was responsive and was extremely helpful. There is less than 0 service at the house and no WiFi whatsoever. Although this is a huge inconvenience, the host did provide a phone card and land line to dial out. The hot tub was great however it stopped working half way through the stay. The fix presented to us did not solve the issue. This was a bummer. The house was clean with the exception of the ladybugs. For some reason the windows and lights in the upper part of the house were filled with ladybugs.

Great place!

Whitetail Lodge is great for groups/families visiting Snowshoe. It's only 10 minutes from the mountain but feels secluded and private. There's plenty of space for everyone to spread out, and the hot tub is great after a day on the slopes. Gillian was awesome and made sure we had everything we needed. There is no internet or cell service at the house. It's nice to be offline but it can be difficult to coordinate where and when to be somewhere if your group splits up. I also suggest that you use GPS or write down directions to the house. Overall, we had a great time and will definitely look into staying again next season.

Convenient Location to Snowshoe, well maintained home for a large family

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The location is very convenient to Snowshoe. The house is well maintained and furnished. This is a perfect place for a large family or a small group. The owners were very friendly and helpful during our stay. A warning though (not a discouragement) - the house is on a steep hill and it can get icy in the winter. Four wheel drive is a must. In addition, there is no internet. We actually enjoyed the opportunity to disconnect from our jobs and other distractions. However if you are an internet or smartphone fiend, you will be disappointed. We had a wonderful time!

beautiful house with plenty of room

We were guests in this house in mid October. The weather was absolutely beautiful with nice breezes and a surprise snow the last night there! The owners make every effort to assure your comfort. There were 10 of us, all senior ladies and multiple ones commented on how comfy the beds were. One of our group struggles with stairs so we were glad of the nice bedroom on the entry level (which had a jetted tub). The kitchen was bigger than it looks in the pictures. We enjoyed the TV room and had a popcorn and movie night, it was easy to program the TV. We look forward to another trip in the future, this was the closest SS house to Cass and that was our goal, as we were driving our ponies along the Greenbrier River. If you are a biker or hiker there is a large parking lot near the Railway station with a trail head adjoining the area. If you are a horseperson EJs Stables is about 22 minutes away. The house is Not listed as Accessible, and in fact you need to be able to ascend a pretty steep driveway and climb stairs. Also near the golf course.

So close yet so far away!

I write with hesitation at someone else taking the property when my group likes to come up. We were up in January and there was a snow storm when we were there. The property is 10 minutes away from Snowshoe, but the roads were clear and with a little caution were totally safe. The driveway is off the main road which was always clear. The three floors with beds, couches, and pull out sofas gave our group of 13 good places to sleep, but it is a big enough house with plenty of room to stretch out and feel comfortable. There were enough TVs to watch a variety of shows during downtime. We entered through the basement which has ample room for removing ski and snow gear. The kitchen could be a little small if you were looking to prepare a complex meal for a max size group, and the right side of the home could get rather cold. However we were there in the winter so colder temperatures should be expected. Pay attention to the fine print, when they say there is no communication up there without a phone card they mean it. SO CLOSE YET SO FAR AWAY = The drive up was nothing when compared to the feeling of being in your own world, with your friends and no outside distractions. Would definitely recommend and hope to return in the near future.
