My husband and I were in the LA area for a week and chose this as our homebase. The house itself was nice; small, but great for the two of us. Being midwesterners, now living in Florida, driving up and down the hills and canyons took a bit of getting used to. But getting to the house location is just half the battle. Then there is the trip up the staircase to actually get to the house. It's a small workout all on it's own! Now the owner, the information here, and many other reviews all warn about the stairs, so not complaining, just adding to the commentary to be prepared. But it is all worth it! Once you make it to the house, you are greeted with a fabulous view of the canyon and the homes all nestled in its nooks and crannies. If you take the walk that the owner recommends, you can see some neat homes along the way and some more fabulous canyon views. Sitting on the patio every morning, enjoying a cup of coffee and the view was a wonderful way to start the day. Then when you are ready to join the hustle and bustle of LA, you drive down the canyon and are close to everything! I do highly recommend dinner at PACE...a cozy italian restaurant, at the bottom of the canyon, that features locally sourced ingredients in modern italian dishes. Not only was the food phenomenal, but it's a great place for celebrity sightings. The night we went, we saw Ellen and Portia as well as "Howard" and "Bernedette" (from Big Bang Theory). That's the house, location, and surroundings, but I will also add that the owner was fabulous and accommodating. The night of our arrival was a black out, so other than our headlights (for driving) and phone flashlights (for walking the stairs), there were no lights or power once we got to the house. She kept us informed and did her best to ensure we were as comfortable as possible. Thankfully, it didn't last too long. Overall, a great place to get away from the hustle & bustle of the city, while still feeling very much a part of it.
