My 83 year old daddy LOVED the mountains of Virginia and North Carolina. He would always say “I’m a mountain man!” every fall when we visited the beach! Lol! He loved our trips to VA and NC. He would laugh and tell stories of our family and their neighbors as we rode the curvy, winding roads. We soaked up all the family history we could as we visited old home places, the family farm, and country church cemeteries. Sadly, my dad passed away just three weeks before our planned trip to The Manor at Saddle View, but my family decided to keep our reservations and honor my dad with a trip to his beloved mountains. We had the most comforting trip we could have ever hoped for. The Manor at Saddle View was absolutely breathtaking. The house was beautifully decorated, very clean, thoroughly stocked, and the six of us had more than enough room to comfortably spread out. Our ages ranged from 79 to 10 years old. We found ourselves saying over and over again, “Daddy would have loved it here”, and we talked of coming back again. What could have easily been a sad, depressing trip turned out to be a comforting, healing time together honoring my dad. We’re so thankful for John and Tara and the experience they provided us.
