This lovingly restored early 19th century farmhouse is the perfect spot. Whether you're upstate for a college reunion (Cornell, Ithaca College, Hobart and William Smith), wedding, girls' weekend, leaf-peeping, or a fun family get away you can't beat the location. Just minutes from Cayuga Lake you have an array of dining, shopping and activities to choose from during your stay. You are also close to Ithaca, Taughannock Falls, Watkins Glen, Elmira/Corning and Geneva all within the spectacularly beautiful Finger Lakes region.
In the heart of wine country, the house is conveniently located and sits on an acre of land, formerly an apple orchard. The house has been updated with a brand new geothermal HVAC system, refinished hard wood floors and modern conveniences. The kitchen includes a full oven, large burner stovetop, microwave, toaster, blender, basic pantry items and a coffee bar. The sun porch has gorgeous views of the yard and surrounding woods - great for watching birds and wildlife. Outside, there is a patio, bubbling creek, hammock and fire pit which is an ideal spot for a cold glass of Finger Lakes rose or sparkling Reisling. Speaking of wine, you're moments from the Cayuga Wine Trail and only a few miles from dozens of wineries along Seneca and Keuka Lakes. If wine isn't your thing, there are dozens of cider houses, distilleries and breweries as well as restaurants and shopping.
The Finger Lakes offer some of the best outdoor experiences including lake access, state parks and hundreds of miles of hiking trails. Check out Watkins Glen, Buttermilk Falls, Cornell Botanic Gardens or Taughannock State Park. In the winter, cross country skiing and snow mobiling replace hiking and swimming.
If shopping is more your speed, you're in luck. Not only are there Wegmans and a Target in Ithaca, you're less than an hour from the Waterloo outlets and minutes from Sundrees in Trumansburg which offers an eclectic curation of local and hand crafted collectibles, great as souvenirs or gifts. You can also hunt for antiques at Found in Ithaca, the Early Owego Antique Center or Morgan Laurent in Geneva.
Be sure to check out some of the best local food around. Atlas Bowl in the village is not only a great spot for bowling but the food is amazing and the outdoor patio area is perfect for drinks and dinner. Other nearby restaurants include the Finger Lakes Cider House (Friday night pizza), Grist Iron Brewing (on Seneca Lake - a perfect spot for sunset watching) and the Inn at Taughannock. They offer a world-class menu and amazing lake views. Don't forget to check out Nickel's Pit BBQ in Watkins and Koko's Korean in Collegetown.
No matter your interests or tastes there is something special waiting for you in the Finger Lakes.
