Hurricane Helene Update as of Late October--
Many parts of our mountain region were severely affected by the wind and floods caused by the Hurricane. This house is situated in the country 5 miles outside of the town of Hot Springs. We are so grateful that our house has not been harmed, and you can reach it in any direction. While Hot Springs is cleaning and rebuilding, you can travel through to get to the cabin. Currently the Smoky Mountain Diner, Sarajos Gas Station, the Dollar General, and two convenience markets are open and would love your business.
The cabin is located 25 minutes to Newport, TN (closest large grocery, Walmart, Lowes, fast food, etc), 1 hour from the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, 1.5 hours from Dollywood, 1 hour from Asheville (parts of which are open).
We would love you to be our guest. This is such a beautiful and welcoming property to retreat to, and enjoy the mountains in Late Fall and Early Winter. Please contact us with any questions you may have.
Welcome to the Bear Den Cabin outside of beautiful Hot Springs, North Carolina! A hand built cabin of yellow pine set in an outdoor enthusiast's paradise. This brand new cabin invites guests to get super comfortable, have plenty of room to roam and play, and spend many hours lazing on the porches or by the firepit. Just a hop skip and a jump from fishing streams and floatable rivers we encourage you to take advantage of all the outdoor recreation activities our area has to offer. A superb getaway!
The house is approximately 5 miles to the town of Hot Springs, located down a lovely rural lane. Turn into the drive, and you will enter through an automatic gate, with a bear head on it! Very appropriate!!!
Drive up the gravel driveway, past a large wildlife field, through a wooded section, to arrive at your destination, the Bear Den Cabin. Pull around to the back porch, and make yourself at home.
The entrance to the house is on the back porch. Enter the cabin into the living room. There are two bedrooms on the left, one king size bed, and one queen size bed. There is a sleeper sofa in the living room. Make sure to let us know that you plan to use the sofa and we will leave bed linens for it.
The kitchen has been thoughtfully stocked with pots, pans, utensils and cookware. There is an oven/range, microwave, refrigerator, grill, and keurig coffee maker.
A washer and dryer are also available for guest to use.
After getting settled into the cabin, enjoy the outside on one of the two porches that expand the front and back of the house, play music, catch fireflies, make a fire, take a walk.
Hot Springs is a great destination in all seasons! The weather can be mild compared to higher mountains and roads are tended in the wintertime. The Hot Springs Spa is open year-around for hot mineral soaks. Restaurants and shops are open as well, and we love to hike the Lover's Leap trail on cool, sunny days when things are a bit quieter around here.
Summer is a wonderful season to enjoy many things to do outside, including rafting and tubing and venturing up to Max Patch Bald. The pace is slow and easy around town, and Hot Springs is also a great central location for day trips to Asheville, Smoky Mountain National Park, Gatlinburg, Waynesville, and many more adventurous locations.
Spring sees beautiful mountain wildflowers and hikers traveling through on the Appalachian Trail. The weather can go from 80-degree days to a dusting of snow and anywhere in between.
Fall never disappoints with endless potentials to see the trees changing at different elevations and finishing your day with a fire and soak in the natural hot springs (or your own private hot tub) or a beverage at Big Pillow Brewing.
A local management company is available to assist you if you need anything during your stay.
We are happy to answer any questions you may have about the home and area
