Cottage im Wald auf der ruhigen Seite von M. D.I. mit großartigem Blick auf den Außenhafen und die Insel. Haustierfreundlich. Die Stadt und die Great Harbour Marina mit mehr als einem Dutzend Restaurants in der Umgebung sowie das Island Explorer-Shuttlebus-System (23. Juni bis Columbus Weekend) sind zu Fuß fast überall auf M. D.I. und Acadia National Park. Minuten nach Acadia, Wandern, Radfahren, Kajakfahren, Schwimmen, Bergsteigen, Vogel- und Walbeobachtung und vieles mehr.
Dies ist ein neues Cottage, das im Herbst 2012 fertiggestellt wurde. Dies ist ein Cottage mit zwei Schlafzimmern und einem großen Loft-Meister. Das Loft verfügt über ein Kingsize-Bett mit viel Platz und zwei halbhohen Schränken, das große Schlafzimmer über ein Queensize-Bett mit Hänge- und Kommode-Stauraum, das kleine Schlafzimmer über zwei Etagenbetten und Kommode-Stauraum. Die Küche ist offen zum Wohn- / Essbereich mit einer Domdecke. Es gibt ein Doppel-Futon im Wohnzimmer für zusätzliche Schlafmöglichkeiten und wir können auch eine Luftmatratze liefern. Wir können mehr Leute in unserem anderen Häuschen unterbringen (Homeaway # 956783), wenn Sie eine große Gruppe oder ein Familientreffen haben. Das gesamte Interieur ist aus astigem Kiefernholz mit Laminatböden, Korkboden im Bad und Propangas-Fußbodenheizung. Die Außenterrasse besteht aus Erbsenstein mit einem Grill, einem Picknicktisch, Stühlen und einer Lounge und führt hinunter zu einer Feuerstelle aus Erbsenstein.

Peaceful oasis

This cottage was truly a hidden gem. Conveniently located and yet it felt totally private and relaxing. Clean, spacious, comfortable, and well supplied. The sunrise views are to die for! We had camped for two weeks prior to our stay so we were hoping for a relaxing close to our trip to Acadia and this cottage delivered. It had everything we needed with regards to cookware, space (2 adults and 2 kids), great wifi for the mornings I had to connect with work, the cutest laundry building, and a perfect outdoor set up for meals and campfire (even though we only used it once). My only note for other families with toddlers (my 15-month-old had just started walking), is to consider bringing or renting a baby gate or just block the stairs with a suitcase. The stairs are steep and you also don't want a toddler in the king bedroom in the loft due to the gaps in the railing (we have a similar set up in our own home so we were prepared). We hope to return in the future!

Great cottage!

Amazing cottage in walking distance of southwest harbor. Clean cottage with easy check-in, well stocked kitchen, great views of the sunrise. Added bonus of allowing our dog to come with us on vacation. Would definitely recommend!

Fantastic Family Trip

We absolutely loved our trip here. The cabin is more gorgeous in person than the pictures. The cabin is close to everything and a short walk to the town. The outdoor seating area with the fire was a welcome way to spend a cool evening. It was nice to have a kitchen and laundry room. The loft overlooking the water was perfect. We hope to come back and would absolutely stay here again!

Acadia trip

This was our second stay at the cottage and it was everything we remembered from our first trip. It feels very secluded and peaceful but is walkable to town and the restaurants and shops of Southwest Harbor. Beds are comfy and there is everything you would need in the house, including many games and books in the laundry area which was very nice

Wonderful Stay in Southwest Harbor

We had a wonderful stay at the cabin! The location was so peaceful, yet close to everything we needed. We loved sitting on the loft and reading and my daughter loved the bunk beds. Everything was clean and the kitchen had everything we needed. Loved the outdoor fire pit too! Couldn’t have asked for a better week.

Quintessential Maine!

We had such a great stay at cottage #2! I wish I had booked it for more days. The cabin was exceptionally clean and comfortable with a rustic feel. The view of the distant harbor from the master bedroom was so beautiful at sunrise. I kept waking up early just to watch view. Breakfast at the picnic table was also very serene. One morning we watched a red fox hunt for breakfast. It’s a great place to relax and decompress from the stress of life with all of the modern conveniences you’re used to (WiFi, streaming services, kitchen supplies, laundry). Walking distance to the small town with great little boutiques, a post office, a bakery, cafes and ice cream. Acadia/Bar Harbor is about a 25-30 minute drive. Highly recommend!

We loved Vicki’s cottage! It was super clean, the kitchen was very well equipped and the setting is amazing, so quiet and in the middle of the forest. It was really nice to be away from the crowd. I highly recommend it.

The house was very clean and had everything we needed. We spent most of our time out exploring the island - and it was a comfortable place to come back to. They made sure we had dry firewood for s’mores.

Wonderful Cottage

Cottage was wonderful and hosts were very thoughtful. When the power went out from the post-tropical storm, Vicki brought us water so we could make coffee and a few lanterns to light up the cottage. Thank you for making our vacation special!

The Perfect Retreat

My family and I really enjoyed the cottage as a place to relax after long days of hiking and exploring Acadia. The accommodations were perfect, and it’s also in walking distance to several restaurants and shops as well. We also really enjoyed being able to have our dog with us to experience the park! The property was as described in the listing. It was very clean and well equipped. It was a little remote yet very accessible to everything we needed. The only recommendation I would make it that the kitchen needs better lighting and there needs to be more large size glasses.

Cabin in the Woods

We loved the cabin. It was new and clean, nicely laid out, and well equipped. We were near the main road but it was secluded. Nice fire pit. Great bedroom up in the loft. And a deer strolled by while we were looking out the window.

Wonderful quiet cottage!

Such a wonderful cottage! Vicki is amazing host, very responsive! Full kitchen, everything is well stocked. Nice back yard where you can see sun rise while enjoying your morning coffee and also have a relaxing time by the fire in the evenings! Overall, great experience! Highly recommended!

You don’t give yourself enough credit!!

If I had to say anything bad about this listing it’s that the pictures do not do this place justice!! What a peaceful serene setting to spend our 15 year anniversary. The kitchen was amazing to cook in, the atmosphere was picturesque and exactly what we expected Maine to be. Being outside the hustle and bustle of Bar Harbor was incredible! We didn’t want for anything during our stay (except maybe a dry day!). We hiked our butts off and were able to relax and enjoy the scenery when we were done. Thank you so much for having us!!

The Cottage was very pleasing and inviting. However, we had a problem in one of the bedrooms. We reported to the owner/landlord. Her reaction was to blame us. She became very upset and told my daughter in law to return to CT. The whole episode was handled very unprofessionally. It put a damper on our vacation. The property was located close to the village. However, it was on a very steep and rutted road. Luckily, we had an SUV.

Dark and secluded

I was a little disappointed with the initial impression. Very dark and heavily wooded. No water views except from the second floor loft looking out in the distance. Access road requires an SUV or pickup truck. Definitely not a low to the ground vehicle. The general interior impression was OK. The main indoor issues were the towels (funny smell) and the bathroom (I had to pretend I was in a campground). We managed to spend as little time there as possible but we made it work. Will not be returning to this property.

Amazing stay

Great cabin with everything you can ask for. Our family had an amazing stay and loved the house, fire pit, and location. Hosts were very communicative and responsive. Everything was very clean and kitchen has everything you need. Will definitely stay again if we come back to the area. Thanks!

Private place near everything

Vicki did an amazing job of preparing the place. It was very clean and she had thought about many of the small details that can often be overlooked. She was very responsive and has a great place to share. It is quiet and secluded, but it's close to downtown. Beautiful place!

Our stay

Chris and I have been coming to Woodland Cottages almost every year since 2015. We have stayed in each of the three cabins which are cozy and comfortable, clean and well stocked..Vicky has been very responsive with any needs or request we have asked her. Vicky also alerted us that next years slots for the cabins we filling up quickly, so I was able to put in for our vacation before she was sold out. This year we were able to bring our mini schnauzers, Riley and Lily with us. We had a great time exploring the trails along the ocean and going into Bar Harbor. Dispute the rainy weather, this was a relaxing vacation we needed. We enjoyed a camp fire to roast a few marshmallows one evening, while watching fireflies dance in the distance. Doug Beal, Jr. a 5th generation, lived in Southwest Harbor his whole life. He and his wife, Vicki, owned a Marine Construction and Diving Business for 41 years. They decided to start a retirement business, so, they began building seasonal rental cottages. Doug completed 3 of them before he passed away in the summer 2015 ( Homeaway #956783 and ). Vicki is carrying on the business that she and Doug started, together.
The three cottages can house 14 happy vacationers, (for a group looking to vacation, together), or rent one for a family. Woodland Cottages I, II and III, all have great holiday appeal ~

When I am building these cottages, I build them the way I would want them as if I were going to live in them. I try to make them very compfortable, quiet and private. I am pleased with both of them.
