Ship's Light blickt seit mehr als 180 Jahren die Cross Street zum Chatham Village Center hinunter. Erbaut und bewohnt von einigen der bedeutendsten Einwohner von Chatham seit 1825, wurde es um 1945 in vier Housekeeping-Apartments für Sommergäste umgewandelt. Dieses liebevoll von langjährigen Besitzern restaurierte antike Haus bietet modernen Komfort und Bequemlichkeit mit dem Charakter und Charme vergangener Zeiten.

Das nach meiner Großmutter benannte Apartment „Lena Coleman“ ist ein frisch renoviertes Juwel mit drei Zimmern und einem Schlafzimmer. Die luftige und helle Wohnküche verfügt über ein Erkerfenster mit einem runden Eichentisch mit Stühlen und einem Buntglasleuchter. Das einladende Wohnzimmer hat Einbauschränke und einen gemütlichen Fensterplatz, zwei bequeme Stühle und einen Flachbildfernseher. WLAN ist im gesamten Haus verfügbar. Das Schlafzimmer ist perfekt für ein Paar und verfügt über ein bequemes Queensize-Bett und eine Decke aus Naturperlen mit sichtbaren Holzbalken. Das Bad ist wunderschön mit einem Marmorwaschbecken und Himmelslicht gefliest. Genießen Sie Ihren Morgenkaffee auf der privaten Dachterrasse mit Ihren Lieben oder beobachten Sie den Sonnenuntergang bei einem Glas Wein. Der Charme der Wohnung wird durch das warme Leuchten wunderschön restaurierter, handverlegter, breiter Kiefernholzböden verstärkt. Es ist auch in der Nebensaison sehr gemütlich, mit wunderbarer Strahlungswärme.

Das Haus befindet sich in zentraler Lage, nur wenige Gehminuten von hervorragenden Restaurants, Einkaufsmöglichkeiten und Bandkonzerten in Chatham entfernt. Den Salzwasserstrand der Stadt am Oyster Pond erreichen Sie nach drei Blocks. Den Küstenwachenstrand, einen herrlichen Abschnitt des Atlantischen Ozeans und die Dünen, erreichen Sie nach 1,6 km. Fantastic place!

I had a wonderful time in the Lena Coleman unit at Ship's Light. It is beautifully renovated and well appointed with everything I needed including a very comfortable bed and a balcony to watch the passers-by and sip my tea. The location couldn't be better: it's a short walk to the Chatham shops in one direction, to a salt water pond (and swimming) in another, and (my favorite) to Lighthouse Beach, where I started and ended many of my days with a long beach walk. Allison is a wonderful host, easy to reach and very helpful. I'll be returning here. Highly recommend!

Chatham town

Great location—Chatham is an exceptionally charming town on the cape—very good bed, walking distance to shops and restaurants. Good for a couple. Some minor details that could be improved (need new microwave, kitchen cold water tap groaning). Chatham is a great location for exploring the national seashore (Eastham) and also enjoying historic Chatham itself.

The property was cute and as described on the listing. The only complaint we would have is that it is extremely dark at night and since we checked in much later than expected it was a little rough to find the actual entrance. Overall very happy with our stay here.

Allison and her team have created a unique sanctuary with all the comforts of home in an affordable, well-located apartment in the beautiful town of Chatham. This is our fifth year in the Lena Coleman suite and for the first time, stayed for two weeks to have the time to enjoy all that Cape Cod has to offer. I highly recommend Ship's Light and specifically, the Lena Coleman apartment for couples or small families.

Cutest getaway

This is the second time we have stayed at this property, first time in the off season and we loved it just as much as the first time! It’s in the best neighborhood and we were able to walk downtown each day. Very clean, all the amenities matched our needs. It was really nice to have towels and sheets available that we didn’t have to bring. The bed was also very comfortable. Can’t wait to return!

Historic Chatham Gem

My husband and I spent 2 nights at the Ship's Light, in the Lena Coleman suite. It was very nice! The bed was comfortable, and the living area and kitchen were great. The apartment was beautifully decorated, with painted walls in pretty sea glass tones, and lovely artwork. A beautiful stained glass chandelier hangs over the dining table. All of the kitchenware we needed to make meals for ourselves ensuite was available. We especially enjoyed sitting on the rooftop deck, accessible from the bedroom. It was a fabulous spot to enjoy our evening cocktails. There is a pull curtain that separates the bathroom from the bedroom area, and that was fine. It does provide adequate privacy. We will definitely stay here again!

Excellent Location, tough for tall people

Overall, this stay and host were incredible! We were in town for a wedding and the location could not be beat. Unfortunately, we are both over 6' and the ceilings made it difficult to stand up straight when navigating bedroom, bathroom and shower. I would not recommend for anyone over 5'8" but overall, good experience.

Great place near center of town.

This is the second time we've stayed in the Lena Coleman apartment and hope to stay there again the next time we're in Chatham. Overall, the apartment is comfortable and close to Main Street and the beach. It's in a nice quiet neighborhood and if the weather is good, I'd recommend sitting out on the balcony. Allison, the owner, is very responsive. We don't have any major complaints. The microwave could be updated.

The check-in process is simple, the apartment is very clean, well-stocked and in the best location in Chatham. Ship’s Light -Lena Coleman Apartment in Chatham, MA

My sister and I took a sister vacation and came upon the ship’s Light home in Vrbo and wanted to try the quaint historic little place. The apartment for 2 people was a great place to stay. This upstairs homey place has a window seat that you can sit and read a book or just relax. Also there is a great balcony that looks out over the front street in this quiet neighborhood, which I think is the best outside place to sit out of all 4 apartments. It is walking distance to Main Street shopping and eating and a short drive to the beach and fish market where your can see the seals waiting for fish scraps when the fishermen clean their boats after turning in their catch of the day. If you are looking for a place in Chatham, MA. I would recommend any of the apartments in this lovely house.

My family has owned and loved Ship's Light since the mid-1970s. In the early 1990s, my partner and I renovated the Lena Coleman apartment and have spent many weeks and weekends fixing it up and finally after a few years, relaxing in it! It has been a labor of love to work on this lovely house over the decades and it evokes in me strong childhood memories of my grandmother. She looked forward to the summers when her long-time renters would return to visit, bringing with them stories of their winter months and great friendships built over many years.

In 2010 we bought another house in Chatham and are busy fixing it up. Though we can hardly bear to rent out our beautiful apartment, we do take great pleasure in knowing that others will get to build their memories in our dear Ship's Light.

Located on a quiet street just off Main Street, Ship's Light is perfectly located and convenient to everything. You can walk downtown to shop in Chatham's great stores, enjoy a meal at a great restaurant, get ice cream and attend Friday night Band Concerts; it’s a short walk to the public library and Methodist, Episcopal and Congregational churches; other churches are also nearby. Chase Park and the grist mill are right around the corner; Oyster Pond (a nice swimming beach) is a short 1/4 mile stroll; the Atlantic Ocean is about 1 mile away. Visitors love to sit and read on the porches and decks overlooking Cross Street and Shattuck Place; from these private perches you can put your feet up and watch the world go by.
