While travelling across the country, I ended up making last minute reservations at Wikiup Cabins. Every one of my emails were immediately answered, and I found the owner to be informative, helpful, and responsive. There was nobody in the office upon my arrival, but there was an intercom system, as well as strategically placed notes informing guests exactly how to contact the owner. Locating the owner took less than thirty seconds, and the check in was immediate. I had requested a cot for my stay, and the cot and bedding was remembered and provided. I rented, what I believe to be, the smallest cabin. It is called, "Prospectors Cabin," and it was much larger than any hotel room. I was expecting tiny, but instead I received a cozy, comfortable and new-rustic cabin. I use the word, "Rustic," to mean decorated and constructed to fit the western environment. The word hardly describes the amenities. The wireless Internet was blazing fast, and the flat screen TV received more stations than one could ever need or want. The kitchenette included a small fridge, full size sink, a small four burner gas stove, coffee maker, toaster, and plenty of dishes and necessities. The cabin also included a gas burning stove for heat, and believe me when I say, it immediately warmed up the cabin. Besides providing heat, it also included a contained flame and fake log (all behind tempered glass), which added to the wonderful atmosphere of the cabin. The bathroom was small, but perfect for our needs. Remember, this is the smallest cabin, and it is more than perfect for two. The four walls and ceiling were knotty pine, and the floor was a wood laminate. Our cabin had four small windows, one of which provided a view of the beautiful creek that runs through the property. The cabins are nicely spaced, and I never heard any of my neighbors. The property is absolutely beautiful, and it is in a great location to visit the Spearfish Canyon Scenic Byway, Mt Rushmore, Badlands, and Devil's Tower in Wyoming. The casinos of Deadwood are a ten minute drive, and there is a small cafe (with a full breakfast, lunch, dinner, and alcohol menu) that is a two minute walk from the cabins. I am taking the time to write this review, as I hope it will help travelers make an informed decision. I was hesitant to make reservations at Wikiup after reading an older review, and I was immediately relieved when I pulled in the property and walked into my cabin. It was perfect!
