Welcome to the Ephraim Chalet, a cozy getaway tucked into the woods yet close to many of the activities of Door County!
The main level is elevated and the 3 bedrooms are on the upper floor so the ability to climb stairs is a must.
The Chalet has new teak floors throughout, a wood burning fireplace, Roku TV with cable television, family games and a large yard with a firepit and grill. Enjoy morning coffee or an evening cocktail on one of the 2 decks and you may see deer or other wildlife wandering through the yard.
This is a perfect vacation getaway for a family and children! The Chalet has 2 lounge areas including the living room with a Door County fieldstone fireplace and a great view of the yard and the den where you can curl up in front of the Roku TV in case of inclement weather. The light filled master bedroom opens onto a private deck and has a king bed (as well as room for a portable crib if traveling with a little one). Please note, there are blinds on the lower windows and sliding door, but no window coverings on the upper small windows. The second cozy bedroom has a queen bed and dresser. The third bedroom can best sleep 6 children or 3 adults or a combination. This bedroom has a full over full bunk bed and a third full bed low to the ground. The third low full bed is close to a slanted wall so would not be suitable for 2 adults. There is a full bath with a combined shower and tub on the upper level and a half bath on the main level off of the kitchen. The retro kitchen is fully equipped and there is even a popcorn maker!
The Chalet is about a 5 minute walk from both Anderson Dock, home to the graffitied Hardy Gallery, and hiking at the Anderson Pond Land Trust reserve. Walking 5 minutes further will bring you to the center of the village where you will find famous Wilson's Ice Cream, The Fashionable Fine Dining, Pearl Wine Bar, Ephraim Coffee Lab, Bad Moravian (beer), Chef's Hat (great for breakfast, lunch and dinner), Sunset Harbor Grill (great views), and the Old Post Office (breakfast and fish boils). South Shore Pier is also located in the center of the village where you can charter a sailboat or parasail ride as well as rent WaveRunners, pontoons, paddle boats and kayaks.
The Village of Ephraim was founded in 1853 and has retained its charm over the years. We believe Ephraim is one of the most picturesque villages in Door County in part because a large part of the shoreline is undeveloped, allowing views across to Peninsula State Park, and many historical structures are still intact. Residents and vacationers alike flock to the shoreline to watch the sunsets. Visits to one or all of the historical buildings, including the Old Schoolhouse, the Iverson House and the Anderson Store, are always fascinating.
You will find the entrance to Peninsula State Park about a mile and a half south of the Chalet. The park has miles of hiking and biking, golf, a beach, sledding, and cross country skiing. It is also the home to the whimsical musicals of the outdoor Northern Sky Theater.
About 5 miles north of the Chalet is the bustling Village of Sister Bay. Drive 10 minutes to the east and you will find yourself on the lakeside in Bailey's Harbor.
Unfortunately, due to the new hardwood floors, we are strict on our no pet policy. We would also appreciate it if guests removed their shoes upon entering the chalet. This is a no smoking property. We ask guests who use the upper bunk to make their own bed with the bedding provided. Thank you for your understanding.
We look forward to welcoming you to the Chalet and will strive to make it a 5-star experience!
