Cute little cottage like home, looked to be in end stages of remodel. Very cute, small, but perfectly spaced for what we needed. Was a wonderful beach getaway from Midwest lives.

Quaint and quiet

This home is super cute. The neighbors are quiet and friendly. A couple of minor issues that the property manager attended to. Our trip was to visit our son stationed at Portsmouth. Minutes from the Naval Hospital and the shipyard barracks. Eat ham was very nice and easy to communicate with. Would stay again.

ROACH INFESTATION

This was hands down the worst experience I've had with a house rental. The place was infested with roaches who left feces on every counter surface, baseboards, cabinets, and every dish in the kitchen. We contacted the owner who said "that's news to me" despite there being multiple roach/bedbug sprays and roach traps around the house. In addition, the refrigerator was unplugged with the door closed which led to significant mold growth. There were mouse droppings on the couches and leftover dog poop in the back yard. The owner did not come help clean and did not offer to send a cleaning service. Unfortunately, there were not any bookings in the area available last minute given the holiday so my family spent the first day of our 3 day stay cleaning. Horrid experience.

Only stayed 10 minutes

We got there around 10pm, put our things in the living room and decided to eat first before getting settled. As we're looking through the house our dog was unsettled and we decide to look at what he's doing. We went into the kitchen and found a whole bunch of little cockroaches, and upon further inspection, they were also in the living room area. We took all of our things out and left. Had to spend the next 2 hours finding a hotel. I informed the owner, and placed a complaint with VRBO. I hope we can get our money back, I also hope we're not taking any of them home. this wasn't what we were expecting.

Roach Infested and Terrible Owner

I checked into the house on Friday, August 16, 2024 at approximately 4:15pm. I sent the owner a message stating that I checked in and asked what he wanted me to do with the mail. I then began to inspect the property and in the kitchen upon opening the cabinets, I saw a live roach crawling along the underside of the shelf. I closed the cabinet and opened the utensil drawer and saw a dead roaches in that drawer. As my youngest daughter has asthma and is allergic to roaches and roach eggs I need to get her out of there as soon as possible. I did not get pictures, but reached out to the owner to let him know I was leaving and why. The owner said to me "Hello Heather we actually just treated the home so you shouldn't see any living roaches but it is common to see dead ones immediately following treatment". He then proceeded to say, "promise you will be okay during your stay we just had guest checkout and they left a five star review with no issue with any bugs". I stated they may not have seen them. He also said, "Hasn't been an issue yet, did you take pictures". Once he asked if i took pictures, i knew he would not take responsibility. I had to scramble to find another place for my family and dog to stay. I ended spending an additional 1,070 to find a hotel at the last minute.I requested VRBO for a refund but was denied and so now I am still fighting this charge. I have screenshots off our conversations and the hotel receipt to show I had to find other accommodations.
