Madeira getaway

Stayed here years ago and was happy to get this unit again. The view of the gulf especially at sunset couldn't be better. In need of a couple of minor repairs, but overall was clean with plenty of kitchen appliances and utensils.

Reviewer Comments: The place was overall “surface clean” but had a lot of deep cleaning & maintenance issues, starting w/first impression of front door as we unlocked the unit. I provided pics after my first night. Master bathroom wall had a fist hole in it, all walls were very scuffed & in need of upbeat paint, vents were all rusted & black, base boards were dirty, master bathrm toilet handle kept sticking in a flush mode, balcony was full of stuff (toys, drills, old chairs, coolers, tools, cardboard boxes etc) that took up space & should have been in storage & not in plain sight.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Beautiful condo with view of beach and sunsets in the evening. Balcony was a comfortable size. The master bed was uncomfortable and did not get a good night's sleep the full stay. Sheets were thin and well worn and mattress cover kept slipping off so that may have been the problem. Main bath needed updates. Very limited supplies, toiletries, dishwasher tabs, had to buy our own to have enough. We paid for a two-bedroom unit and there was only two of us, so if any more guests we definitely would have been out toiletries sooner. Never got bed sheets changed for the two-week period. Poles in parking lot may parking difficult and had accident backing out. We also had an accident in same condo a few years ago.

View from property is phenomenal! Carpet in master bedroom definitely needs replacing. We used the sofa bed which could be upgraded - very uncomfortable. Otherwise, everything we needed was in the property. We used kitchen for minimal cooking as we mostly went out to eat.

Excellent Location!

We enjoyed our stay at Madeira Norte. The balcony views from this condo are AMAZING. Balcony access from living room and master bedroom. The pool was unfortunately not open because of renovations to the building, which was a bummer, but we still made the best of it. Location is excellent. We walked across the street to John's Pass nearly every day for shopping, dinner, etc. A few things that could use a little TLC in the condo are new light bulbs in light fixtures. New mattress in master bedroom, and new couches (pretty worn). We also wanted to vacuum a few times since we had a toddler with us, but the vacuum was so old it didn't work properly. Overall, we had a great time and would definitely recommend this unit and any other at Madeira Norte!

Reviewer Comments: Having stayed at Madeira Norte several times before (not in 414) our first impression was not very good. Over all the condo needs a rehab. Compared to other units we have stayed in, (414) needs a good cleaning, carpets, bed clothes etc. All property outside condo is great, we all enjoyed balcony and view. Even with the outside rehab work did not have any impact on our stay. Convenience and view good, safety may be another matter, shower has a high step to get in or out, which presents a increase chance of falling, not good for old bones...also someone needs to clean junk stored on and around water heater and AC in another closet, potential fire hazard. Check in and out went just fine, nice ladies. Four adults would not recommend (414) to a friend.

Upon entering the condo we noticed the wall was all scuffed up probably from luggage or other items, but it definitely looked unsightly and should be repainted. The same for the baseboards throughout the condo. There was a large water spot on the ceiling in the entrance to the guest bedroom and the walls in that room looked like someone purposely tried to scratch the paint off. The carpeting in both bedrooms was disgusting and needs immediate replacement. We didn’t want to walk on it and that says something! The door to the master was cracked and unsightly as well. The living area only had a couch and loveseat, no chairs. It would have been nice to have at least one chair. The vacuum cleaner essentially couldn’t pick up any dirt, we swept the living area rug and floor to get the dirt picked up. In the kitchen there weren’t any hot pads, glassware is fine, but we are a the beach so having some plastic ware would be nice. The table and chairs on the deck were fine, but very basic compared to other balconies we’ve had in the past. If you update and paint this property you will have much more positive comments and satisfied patrons renting this condo.

We arrived late and got our keys as agreed upon. Try to park- our space is blocked off by construction. Scared that we would be towed and didn’t know about the 600’s guest parking. Go to take luggage for 5 up elevator. Elevator is broke, out of order. Find another elevator on backside of condo. Our elevator key doesn’t work. There was no one around. And it was COLD and WINDY. Not to mention my 70 year old parents were with me. Stairwell also locked, but figured out quickly we had a key. So I go up 4 flights of stairs to room and was able to take elevator back down and let them in. Mind you this elevator is TINY. The condo was the dirtiest condo we have ever stayed in; we have stayed in MANY! The master carpet was disgusting. Wadded up. Very dirty/stained. And an area smelled like rotten milk. I had to sleep with sliding door open. The shower was up a couple feet and u had to jump out so my parents couldn’t take that room. Neither sliding door locked. No keurig as listed. The other rooms carpet was not AS gross, but still dirty. No lamp. The washer and dryer were minis. Not regular stackable. Minis. Very small. Our shower in master was so dirty and the toilet was so dirty and disgusting. Bowl was clean. Brown stain on couch. Rug looked dirty. The kitchen table chairs (fabric) were so dirty, we sat on towels. We have never complained about a condo. The place was just dirty and gross. My bed in master had no bottom sheet. Just a mattress pad, one flat sheet and one dirty white duvet. And the key situation was horrible. We got locked in the pool one day Bc we didn’t have a key to get out. People were jumping the fence. You have to have a key to enter AND leave the pool area and the same with the beach. Along with needing key for elevator and stairwell. We didn’t mind the construction though.

Pros- Location directly on the gulf Nightly sunsets from balcony Comfortable beds and crisp clean sheets and pillos Across the street from John's Pass with loads of shops, food, activities for all No need for car if familiar with Lyft/Uber/InstaCart Cons- Cheap Broken Ice Trays (no ice maker) Old Polyester comforters No blankets, only sheet and said plastic motel room comforters on all beds Filthy old carpets in bedrooms, loose carpet 'ripples' in master where it had pulled away from floor, (total trip hazard) Area rug in living room was so dirty and matted down, we rolled it up and put it against a wall to avoid walking on it. Sliding couch to move area rug we found snacks, crumbs, wrappers etc on the tile floor below couch The master shower was in NO way up to code! It was at least 6-8 inches above the tile floor! You had to step up into the shower and there were no grab bars to be found, so every shower we took had to b done with the utmost caution so we didn't slip and fall. Ever try to step down and out about 6-8 below while soaking wet? Not fun! Perhaps this place is a work in progress, but for this very experienced homeaway/vrbo client, this property needs much attention and in no ways deserves a 5 star rating. Renters beware!

We will never stay at a hotel again! From check in we were pleasantly surprised how well the grounds were kept, even cleaning the provided charcoal grills daily, with hadn't even been used.. The pool, albeit a bit small, was sparkling & provided plenty of seating. 🏊‍♀️We stayed at Madeira Norte 4th floor,🏢 the interior was nicer than even the pics, & the view from the balcony & patio seating🏖, gave me a prefect retreat from the beach when needed, which included great live music 🎶daily (not heard inside condo, btw) from the lil bar across the street @ Johns Pass. And speaking of Johns Pass, the location directly across the street, gave all of us great shopping, dining & watersport fun, just literally steps away. The new mattress in the bedroom gave me better support than even my home mattress. A huge 3D tv & sleeper sofa(i heard was fairly comfortable😉😉) in living room. Bathrooms🛁🚽 were clean & had everything we needed including bright white towels, blow dryer & counter space. Kitchen was clean & fully stocked with a dishwasher,(2-4 soap pods were provided, we all used few more i brought from home sharing the daily run duties for 6) it had pitchers, a kuerig & drip coffee pots, cookware, silverware, drinkware, plates, bowls, slow cooker & utensils, etc Ample counter space for our "bar"🍹🍹..saving us tons of $$ on meals, even gave our adult sons & girlfriends opportunity to cook meals for Mom & Dad, (some of the best parts of my stay)! Also a stackable washer/dryer(bring all your own soap pods), which was great to dry towels & suits since hanging to dry on balcony is prohibited, keeping the building from looking any sort of way😜 There were no beach toys, chairs etc, so be sure to pack these.🏄‍♀️🏐 If i had to find a neg, the frig could be replaced soon with one including an ICE Maker & I would have appreciated a cordless vac to help keep the condo a bit more sand free,( but there was a broom & dustpan) Ty Madeira Norte!! We hope we'll see u next year!!

May-June 2018 Stay

We will never stay at a hotel again! From check in we were pleasantly surprised how well the grounds were kept, even cleaning the provided charcoal grills daily. The pool, albeit small, was sparkling & provided plenty of seating. We stayed at Madeira Norte #414, the interior was nicer than even the pics, & the view from the deck & patio seating, gave me a prefect retreat from the beach when needed. The new mattress gave me better support than even my home mattress. Bathrooms wtw clean & had everything we needed including bright white towels. Kitchen was clean, had pitchers, a kuerig & drip coffee pots, cookware, silverware, slow cooker & utensils, saving us tons of $$ on meals, even gave adult sons & girlfriends opportunity to cook meals for Mom & Dad, (some of the best parts of my stay)! If i had to find a neg, the frig could be replaced soon with one including an ICE maker. Johns Pass gave all, shopping, dining jet skis rental, bars w/live music, just steps away. Ty MN!! well see u next year!!
