A warm and eclectic northwoods beach style, freshly renovated upstairs apartment in Gilbert, walking distance to the crystal clear water of Lake Ore Be Gone & Mesabi Trailhead. This apartment features 4 bedrooms, fast and free WiFi, and a smart TV. We just finished renovating this historical gem, which was moved to Gilbert from Sparta via horses in the early 1900s. The result is a clean, updated apartment that provides everything you need for a relaxing holiday in the heart of Gilbert.

Highs and challenges

Our stay was mostly positive. The owner was kind and quick to respond when we needed help finding the place and when we had questions about parking. Once inside it is cute, cozy, quiet, and quaint. Lots of seating and sleeping options.The table worked fine for us, but could be challenging if you want to have dinner with more than 4 people. The stairs were quite steep. Overall a good option for our hockey weeked:)

Cozy, Spacious, Just Perfect!!!

Our stay was WONDERFUL! Cozy, Spacious and JUST PERFECT! Comfortable beds, extra blankets, fully stocked kitchen utensils large TV, games to play! My family met here and had Thanksgiving together as my son was playing hockey nearby. Everyone had their own rooms, with gathering space to also be together. We all had an amazing time and just kept commenting on how perfect this place was for us! 10 out of 10 recommend and would stay again for sure (and probably will soon)! We ate at the Whistling Bird (twice) because it was sooo good!

Great stay in Gilbert!

We had a great stay at the Oar-asis in Gilbert. Lots of room, clean and comfortable. Loved having the coffee bar available in the morning. Convenient location to both Eveleth and Virginia. We were lucky enough to spot the Northern Lights from the back yard the last night of our stay.

Ski Weekend - Giants Ridge

We stayed for a ski weekend and it was great for our trip. Great communication by the owner. Enough parking for a few vehicles off of the street, behind the unit. Plenty of space for the kids, and adults, to relax afterwards and lots of warm soft blankets. Location was excellent in Gilbert and liked that we could walk to dinner, bars, etc. Would definitely stay here again.

We had a great time exploring the area! The apartment was clean and spacious and we had plenty of room to spread out. All of the little amenities were thought of. We had fun visiting the MN Discovery Center in Chisholm and riding e-bikes in Duluth!

Perfect getaway on the range.

We were very impressed with the property. The design and layout of the apartment was perfect and very spacious. The owners thought of everything. It was the little details like a coffee bar and extra toiletries that make this place special. You can tell that they care about their guests. One thing to note is that you have to climb up stairs to reach the second floor. The neighborhood is charming and the neighbors are very friendly. Its a classic range town environment. The beach is a long walk away but the kids loved it. We ended up driving but it was worth it. Overall, a great experience.

Charming Downtown Apartment

We all loved the place! It was beautiful walking in and a very comfortable stay. Two random things though. When they say second floor, they mean it is 2 flights up on wooden stairs. We all laughed because we weren’t expecting it. We made the trek but know it’s not the place for everyone. Second, the front door does not open very wide, but if you need to you can step into the bathroom then shut the door to make it easier to step into the kitchen. Great hosts. Very responsive to questions. If we are in the area again, would definitely try to stay here.

Beautiful experience

From the minute we opened the door it was jaw dropping! This "apartment" feels nothing like an apartment. Completely remodeled, tastefully decorated with artwork from a local painter. This history of this building is also displayed. Huge living room with enough couch space for lounging. The bedrooms are adorable and spacious. The kitchen is completely updated and spotless. Will absolutely return!

MN trails

3 couples stayed at Oar’asis and had the best time. The apartment was clean, decorated so cute and best of all on the MN trails. Plenty of parking on site and on the side street - great restaurants within a couple blocks! We will definitely be back in the fall! Thank you Beth! You were great to work with!

Biking the Mesabi

We were here to bike the Mesabi Trail and although Gilbert is a small range town, that is suffering as many small range towns are, we found it to be quiet and friendly. Both the Wandering Pines and the Whistling Bird restaurant are quite good and friendly. The owner of the Pines even gave us a good tip for a breakfast restaurant nearby. Beth does a great job with this property. It is clean, comfortable and spacious. There is also good offstreet parking. Beth is also easy to deal with and someone who really takes an interest in seeing that her guests are comfortable.

Hi! I'm Beth. My husband and I purchased this historical gem in 2021 and it's been a family project to update this space in order to share it with you! We love this area and we hope you will love it just as much as we do!

We are outdoor enthusiasts and we hope you are able to take in many of the outdoor activities that this area brings to the table.

We want to make your stay as comfortable as possible. We are most accessible by text or email during the day.

Darum fiel die Entscheidung auf diese Unterkunft

We own the insurance agency on the main level and upon subsequent purchase of the building in 2021, we set out to breathe new life into this old building. This building was brought in, pulled by horses from nearby Sparta, and set on its current foundation around 1906 - we have pictures displayed of the building back then in the rental. We have enjoyed spending time in this space so much, we love the history and it brought us joy to renovate and share with others.
