Nice property, terrible hosts
I had a very unpleasant experience with this stay & an even more unpleasant & strangely confrontational interaction with the host. I don't like to leave negative reviews so I had decided to just not review at all. Then yesterday, over a week after my stay, I received another confrontational message from the host!
My principal feedback & a word of caution to other potential guests is that I had an issue when I arrived & the host never called back. I now realize that the hosts’ first language is Spanish & they do not speak English very well, so I suspect this is the reason why they don’t answer phone calls or call back when asked to.
There isn’t room to detail our saga but the short version is that the central heat was not on in the house (despite it being winter in the mountains), so it was 45 inside when we arrived & we were all uncomfortable. We called 5 times over several hours & sent multiple text messages explaining the situation & asking for callback & maybe space heaters, but no one ever called us back. The rest of the story is even more bizarre. Most hosts would apologize. This host has instead responded with multiple text messages (still no phone call) accusing us of lying about the situation (huh? Why would we do that?) & describing video they recorded of us in the house (pretty sure it is illegal to record people without their knowledge or consent) saying our kids didn’t really seem to be crying (what a weird thing to say, right?!). I would not recommend.
