The entire premises.
The Neighborhood:
Irvington: Described as "Tiny but Tony", and "Manhattan meets Mayberry", this upscale yet low-key town has great restaurants, friendly people, and a wide array of community events. Directly across from the flat is the Village Commons. This is where the community gathers year round for farmers' markets, holiday events, and more. Join in! Or try out the tennis and pickle ball courts (balls and rackets provided).
Walk to the Steamboat Museum, a small but fascinating place to learn about the history of the area. Have dinner at one of several restaurants within an easy walk, including The Office. It's in a former dentists office and still sports two giant toothbrushes outside. Seasonally changing specials are not to be missed. It's a great place to eat at the bar; very friendly.
Irvington sits on Carters Creek, which leads to the Rappahannock River and then out to the Chesapeake Bay. Book a sailing or powerboat charter (ask us about discount). Watch oysterman bringing in their catch, then sample some yourself at Merroir in nearby White Stone! White Stone is also home to Adrift restaurant, whose chef-owner is a local kid who trained at the Inn at Little Washington. Head over to Hughlett Nature Preserve in Kilmarnock, a beautiful spot on the Chesapeake with trails and a wide open beach for walking.
The flat is directly above a quiet wine bar and small plate restaurant with an outside patio called the Vine. It is well loved by locals and visitors alike, and is not a noisy bar. You may hear some muffled voices or laughter on the first level of the apartment, but we do provide sound machines. It is unlikely that you will hear anything at all from the second floor of the apartment as that is two floors up from the wine bar. Do check it out! The outdoor seating is especially nice in any season.
Be sure to ask about our private chef, too. She can have a tray of charcuterie waiting for you, or hire her to cook for you in the flat and she will regale you with local stories. Ask her about the Lancaster Tavern ghost!
We also partner with other great local experiences such as sailing cruises, power boat charters, and yoga classes. Just ask us!
Getting Around:
A car is essential for visiting the area but you can walk to all the shops and restaurants in the Town of Irvington from the flat.
