Good budget choice for west Maui

We enjoyed our stay in unit #211. We stayed at Hale Kai in 2013 (3 units for our entire family) but importantly for us, those units were near the ocean, and not close to the road. There are pros and cons to this unit. Pros: next to a small state park- Honokōwai Beach Park - with turtles and snorkeling; small sandy beach area near the pool; nice balcony and view of the park and ocean; comfortable living space; 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms; both bedrooms were comfortable; decent kitchen; pool and bbq area; close to shops and Kaanapali beach area and other Lahaina area attractions. Cons: This unit, unlike other units farther from the busy road, had a lot of road noise at times. During the night we mostly slept ok because the traffic declined substantially.For us, the highlight of the stay was the close proximity to the park next door. We snorkeled with large turtles in the nearby reef. Plus we enjoyed just hanging out in the shade with picnic tables, warm water & nice sand.
