Downtown Cottage – A Little Slice of Heaven
The 1600 square foot “Downtown Cottage” is a charming, fully renovated home located in Fernandina's Historic District. This three bedroom, two bath home, built in 1907, underwent a complete renovation in 2021. It is adorned with old world charm coupled with all modern conveniences.
The cottage's exterior is painted in warm, calming hues and has a welcoming front porch where morning coffee can be enjoyed. Upon entering, you will encounter a large open floor plan with a combined living and kitchen space. Relax or take a nap on the comfy sectional sofa and watch your favorite shows on the 65-inch Sony television. The kitchen is designed with white shiplap, floating shelving, plenty of cabinet space, a commercial grade stainless steel range, and is stocked with all the items needed to prepare and enjoy and great meal. The quartzite island has seating for four.
Behind the kitchen is a large walk-in pantry with a drink cooler for additional beverage storage. To the right of the pantry, is a mud room with full washer and dryer along with additional cabinet space for storage, and a water softener and filter. On the other side of the pantry is an enclosed screened in porch with comfy seating where you can relax and enjoy the privacy of the enclosed, gated back yard.
Adjacent to the open family room, there are two bedrooms separated by a bathroom. The first bedroom has a stylish black-cane queen sized bed along with a Victorian dresser. The second bedroom boasts a king-sized bed along with a top-of-the-line Tempur-Pedic mattress and a spacious vintage armoire to store your belongings. The bathroom separating the bedrooms has a walk-in shower where a long morning shower can be enjoyed. A tankless hot water heater will ensure you never run out of hot water!
A spiral staircase in the main living area leads up to an additional sleeping area and bathroom. The loft area which is considered the third bedroom has queen-sized day bed with a Casper memory foam mattress and a dresser. The adjacent bathroom has a walk-in shower, along with a deep soaking tub to enjoy after a relaxing day at the beach.
The house is located in a vibrant, but quiet and friendly neighborhood filled with unique bungalows and Victorian houses. There is little street traffic, making it a wonderful neighborhood for biking, jogging, or a casual walk. Located just three blocks from the center of downtown Fernandina, it is an easy morning stroll to Nana Teresa's bakery or the street market on Saturday mornings. Also, a car is never needed to enjoy a great lunch, dinner spot, or all the boutique shops located in downtown Fernandina. The beach is also a short two miles away. Two bicycles are provided for you to ride to the beach or explore the adjacent downtown area. Golf, tennis, pickle ball, antiquing, and nature parks are all also within easy reach.
