This home provided us with a perfect vacation. The pond is small, clean, and so peaceful. Most of the time we were the only ones in it! I really appreciated the privacy of the beach area and the home in general. The sandy beach and lake bottom is wonderful and soft, unlike many other Maine lakes. The lake is down many stairs, which actually was a good excuse to get some extra steps in. We fished (successfully), kayaked, and swam. We even got to see a bald eagle fly right over and land in the trees near us. The house was clean and well stocked. Comfy beds, many pillow and blanket options. We kept the windows open 24/7 and that kept the house cool and kept fresh air flowing. Loved having coffee on the patio. The bunk house is adorable and although our kids were too young to sleep out there alone, they brought over board games etc. and I think they felt pretty cool to be in their own little house :)
The house is about 20-30 minutes from bigger towns. We went to a few local breweries, ice cream/drive in movie in Bridgton, a gem museum in Bethel where you can hold pieces of the moon and Mars, and a quarry where you can search for different rocks and crystals. Most of the time though, we were down by the lake :) The wifi worked fine for our needs, and we only put the TV on one evening for a short time. There are tons of games for all ages (we got really into Scattergories), plus, if you are a reader, there are many excellent books and magazines.
Lastly, Sue is a great host. She provides lots of details and reminders in advance and is quick to respond to messages and answer questions. Although she is not local, there are neighbors who help care for the property and they are also extremely helpful.
Wish we could have stayed more than a week but reality calls!
