Imagine . . a short, serene walk to one of the most beautiful beaches on the Atlantic coast, wide and glistening with jewel tone colors in the morning sun. The sand so flat with an inch of sea tide you’ll feel like you’re walking on water.
You can stroll or bike (bicycles provided at house) along the shoreline darting among the seabirds, maybe finding some newly hatched baby turtles making their dash to the sea. Or find a living starfish, moon jelly or cannonball jellyfish.
If you have 4 wheel drive you are 2 minutes to parking right on gorgeous Butler Beach with direct access from Micklers St. Park and stay on the beach from sunrise to sunset.
This location has it all! A short 10 minute ride past the island sights and crossing the Lions Bridge you’re uptown in beautiful, historic St Augustine with more European flavor, streets, shops and ambient restaurants than you will ever have time to fully explore. Must see points of interest include the Castillo de San Marcos Fort, and all of the nuances of St George St. And top of the list of things to enjoy are the horse drawn carriage rides and tram tours full of historic intrigue!
If you enjoy stunning architecture you will see some the most beautiful ancient cathedrals and exquisite details of the Flagler College buildings. So much history and Spanish culture in America’s oldest city.
A short drive south to Palm Coast and you can bicycle through some of the most lush jungle-like trails we have found in northern Florida.
The list of marvelous experiences goes on. We have searched the coast from wonderful Tybee Island to lovely Hillsboro Beach but St Augustine won us over hands down.
Take a sunset cruise on the bay and watch the skyline come alive with boats, the city lights casting their reflections on the Matanzas River as the moon rises.
Then settle in at Island House with all the beach vibe and amenities you could need. This is a gorgeous house in and of itself. If there weren’t so many wonderful things to see and do you would just want to settle in and enjoy the comfort. The house has been completely renovated and updated with everything new. All new state-of-the-art appliances, new lighting and fixtures, new carpet, new quartz countertop, new furniture, accessories, bedding. Completely repainted with even the garage updated and refreshed.
And if you could possibly get your mind off island time to do some remote work, each bedroom has it’s own desk with wi- fi available to help you earn a little money, stay a little longer. Enjoy the patio swing surrounded by lush plants and tropical Florida palms waving gently in the breeze while you watch the hummingbirds gathering nectar. Or maybe just enjoy an afternoon shower pouring down through dazzling sunshine.
Or take a short sunset stroll west to the intercostal to watch the many birds and wildlife. You may see the flock of monk paroquets that have been inhabiting our street. They seem to love being caught on camera.
At the end of the day just rest, rejuvenate, repeat.
Take the kids to the Alligator Zoo, walk out on St Augustine Beach Pier. Buy a Starbucks at the exquisite Embassy Suites Hotel at Pier Beach and feel like you're a guest there as you sip your Starbucks on the veranda watching the gorgeous shoreline. Have breakfast a Little Margie’s, attend a concert you’ve booked ahead of time at the Amphitheatre. In the neighborhood stop into the Back Forty or Viola's for casual Italian dining with a hipster vibe. Check out Beachcombers, Beaches, Caps on the Water, River+ Fort Cafe, San Sebastion's for exquisite sunset views across the top of the city from their rooftop or dance to the live music. Or just across the street from San Sebastion's’ drop in at Carmela’s pizza for some of the best pizza and making new friends.
And, of course, St Augustine is always hosting its famed Night of Lights event lasting from November19th through January 31st.
