Villa Azomalli, Tony Palos (owner), and his staff Araceli Garcia, Tonita and Raemundo (Gin Gin), provided the BEST holiday this group of 7 friends could have asked for. We rented the home for the month of November, and enjoyed traditional Mexican meals, compliments of Chef and Concierge, Araceli. One member of our party is Celiac, and Araceli's crew (Worker and Natalie) made sure that every meal made met his requirements, even if it meant making a separate dish for him. She would bring our food to the table and quickly announce to him if the food was "not for him". Her food was so plentiful and filling that we had to cut down to 2 meals a day, with a snack (the BEST Guacamole and Ceviche EVER) in the afternoon. Tonita worked very hard keeping our rooms tidied daily, along with the common areas of the home. Gin Gin took care of the gardening (fresh limes), pool cleaning and all the heavy work around the house.
Along with the use of the house and pool (which was a life saver in the November heat), we had access to the Celeste Resort and Spa a short trip down a very steep hill. We had full use of their resort, including their quiet private beach (towels/chairs and palapa's included), drinks and food served on the beach (incredible fish tacos). The ocean water was clean, clear and warm, probably at least 85 degrees, much like the pool! The walk back at the end of a beach day was a challenge due to the steepness, however, there was a huge boulder halfway up the hill to rest your weary bones on and catch your breath. Also found that zig zagging on the way up, meant more steps on the step counter, and a little less exhaustion at the top.
Villa Azomalli is a 3 km walk to the nearest commercial area (near Barcelo, Dreams), and a short 80 peso taxi ride to Le Crucecita and Santa Cruz, where there were plenty of shopping and dining options available. Taxis were easy to catch any time of day, and all the drivers seemed to be aware of Casa a Tony Palos!!
This was the first trip to Huatulco for all 7 of us, and we were so impressed with the cleanliness of the entire area, the friendliness of the people and the safety of the community. The weather was warm, something this Alberta girl had a hard time adjusting to, but I won't complain! Not a drop of rain the entire 28 days, and arrived home to snow and -17 degrees Celsius.
Thank you so much Tony, Araceli, Tonita and Gin-Gin for the most awesome "private all-inclusive" holiday ever.
