Casita at Sandcastle villa

The Casita has a comfortable bed, good storage space and a great shower and AC. The kitchen is outside which we only used for breakfast and a salad for dinner. It's close to the main town with many restaurants and food trucks.The grocery stores were pretty dismal since everything needs to be brought over from the mainland. The pool is refreshing, but keep in mind that it is shared with owners.The property manager, Ron was awesome. He checked in every day and was a wealth of knowledge.

Beautiful property with view of the ocean

We really enjoyed our stay at this property! Although the room itself is small, it is wonderfully open and breezy, and has its own bathroom, sink area and indoor shower. There is a lot of common area to enjoy, including an outdoor shower and bathroom, kitchen, patio, and a lovely pool. Lots of great spots to sit and enjoy the tropical ambiance. Ron, the manager, was very helpful and responsive. Easy to get to town and beaches. FYI, there IS a microwave in the kitchen. And we were visited frequently by the friendly local dog, cat, and chicken.

Everything we wanted & more! Beautiful Island Villa

Great get-away!

We really enjoyed this property. The Casita is very spacious, the outdoor kitchen was fun since we haven't ever used one. Excellent pool, and the ocean is just across the street, very quiet and relaxing. Ron was super to deal with. He suggested things to do in the area, always available to speak with. The homeowners were there, but we would only meet in passing, and they were very nice people. We highly suggest this property.

Paradise

Everything about Villa Sandcastle is incredible – the casita is clean, comfortable, and has everything you need to feel at home. The property, pool, and outdoor kitchen encourages you to be outside 24/7. And the beach, oh man the beach, you are steps away from an island paradise that you'll never want to leave. The owners, Gil and Jackie, are lovely and welcoming and give you all the privacy you'd want. And Ron, the caretaker, is a gem who made sure we had everything we could possibly need, and his restaurant/beach suggestions were impeccable every time. This place is amazing, we'll be back and I'll be thinking of it until we return.

Paradise!

My husband and I were lucky enough to stay at the lovely Sandcastle Villas for 5 days and loved every moment. The casita was very clean, comfortable, and had ocean views from the private balcony. The villa is in a great location: away from the noisier, bustling Esperanza but just 5 minutes from the airport and 8 minutes away from Isabel Segunda. Ron was our gracious caretaker and was just a quick text away if we needed anything. We only saw Jackie (the homeowner) once or twice and she was absolutely lovely. We would not stay anywhere else in Vieques!

STUNNING!!!

This property has to be one of the most beautifully landscaped on the island. It is immaculately kept outside and in. We loved the porch and bar/kitchen area. The Casita was comfortable and beautiful. It is like staying at your own private resort. It is situated in a safe quiet neighborhood close to all the beaches and restaurants - and just steps away from a nice private beach - great place to go with your morning coffee. We love this quaint island of Vieques and will be returning! Thank you Jackie!

Great Winter Respite

Very nice property with excellent communication and hospitality from Ron (property manager). Lovely room with good a/c. Beautiful pool. Indoor/outdoor shower excellent. Outdoor kitchen very nice for breakfast and snacks. Beautiful pool. Great beach gear for use. Private beach a very short walk across the street. Please be aware that you are not renting a fully private property. Rental is a casita (not the main house) and the owners are present and visible during your stay (including passing through common area while we were eating breakfast at outside kitchen and while we were lounging at pool). Would have given 5 stars if truly private.

Beautiful casita in paradise

The casita is exactly as shown and you couldn’t ask for more. The location is great, steps away from the beach and with great ocean views at every turn. It’s close to the airport, Isabel Segunda, and a host of amazing beaches. Ron met us to give us a tour and go over the logistics of the place. The homeowners were there but they went out of their way to give us privacy and the pool and outdoor kitchen were all ours. Also the rental came with beach chairs, snorkels, towels, coolers, umbrellas, and everything you need to enjoy the beach. Having a laundry room also helped us to pack light. We had a glorious stay in Vieques - paradise on earth. Thanks Jackie and Gil!

Great first time visit to Vieques

What a great first time experience in Vieques! From the time we landed to the time we departed we felt right at home at this property. Jackie and Gil are wonderful hosts and bent over backwards to insure we had everything that we needed. The property is fully stocked from the kitchen to the extras like kayaks, snorkel gear, coolers, beach chairs, etc. The house is on the grounds of the W hotel so we did take the 5 min walk over to enjoy dinner and drinks one night. The pool is outstanding and we should have used it more but how can you pass up the beaches in Vieques (Pata Prieta / aka Secret Beach was our favorite). You will need to rent a jeep for your stay especially if you plan on visiting some of the more remote beaches. We can't wait to come back!

Amazing stay in a beautiful casita

We had a absolutley wonderful stay at Jackie and Gil's casita. The space is perfect...wonderful bedroom/bathroom, great outdoor kitchen/grill, and an amazing pool. There is even a nice little private-ish beach right across the street from their house. The property is in a secure neighborhood with a security patrol (not that you will feel unsafe even for a minute in Vieques). Jackie and Gil were great hosts. They gave us a great overview of Vieques and had everything we needed for the beach (coolers, beach chairs, towels, snorkel gear, etc...). They even gave us a ride to and from the airport. We will definitely be back. Vieques itself is beautiful beyond words. The beaches are amazing (go to Secret Beach). The people are incredibly nice. The food is good. The drinks are easy to find. You will not be disappointed.

Amazing place

Fantastic property with great views of the ocean. Beautifully landscaped pool area. Amazing large infinity pool that gets up to 6 feet deep, but considerable shallow section too. Everything was very clean. The casita is just a bedroom and bathroom like a hotel room, but the outdoor space is gigantic! Lovely outdoor kitchen with dishwasher and fridge. No oven, but there is a gas grill. Good laundry facilities. Nice outdoor shower and bathroom to rinse off. You can fall asleep to the sound of crashing waves. Very close to a small, semi-private beach. Great location near town (nothing on Vieques is more than 30 minutes drive, and many things are less than 10). Ron, the caretaker, met us when we arrived and showed us around, and he was very responsive with recommendations and local happenings. The casita is locked with a key code, so we didn't have to worry about a key on our beach days. The owners went out of their way to ensure our privacy during our stay; we were the only ones on the entire property. The AC in the casita worked really well, and the wifi was excellent throughout the property. We used their snorkeling equipment and beach chairs throughout our stay. They also had two kayaks.

Fabulous property - island splurge!

This casita is truly wonderful. Beautifully appointed with everything you could need and more. The french doors open up to a beautiful veranda looking at the saltwater pool or ocean. There is an outdoor shower and bath that separate another casita which would be perfect for two couples to share (our next plan!). The outdoor kitchen worked great for us (a very nice grill is available too). It was handy to have nice beach towels, chairs, kayaks and cooler. Steps away to your own beach with endless shell searching. Our hosts, Jackie and Gil spent lots of time giving us some highlights to shopping, area restaurants and beaches. They made sure we had what we needed and were available if we had any questions. The location (in gated community) proved to be very convenient to any part of the island for dining, shopping and beaches. I highly recommend renting a car on this island and car reservations are a must. We use Maritza's and they were great. The beaches were fantastic (and we hit most of them) and the Bio Bay was a big highlight of the trip. We could not get over how helpful and friendly everyone was! We saw remnants of Hurricane Maria but all systems are in place and the island is just full of energy! Put this island on your list! We can't wait to go back.

Mi casa es su casa

Had a great visit. The set up is beautiful and private. There are so many benefits that come with this Casita rental: short walk to the private beach, well maintained pool and pool area, kayaks, snorkel gear, beach chairs, coolers, towels, etc are all available to use. The Casita itself was perfect for us as a basecamp as we spent most of the day exploring the island and her beautiful beaches and hills. But is was always a pleasure after a long day to come back and chill. The room itself is well suited for a couple: comfy bed, nice indoor bathroom with shower (outdoor shower option too). Most of the lounging is done outside in the perfect weather conditions. The outdoor kitchen for us was adequate with a full size fridge, hotplate, coffeemaker, utensils, sink, etc. We explored the local restaurants so we really didn't have to prep any meals. The location is super convenient, about 5 minutes to Isabella Segunda and 10+ minutes to Esperanza. We rented a Jeep and it was money well spent. The island is well on it's way rebounding from Maria. Yes her effects are still noticeable in areas and ongoing repair/renovation work is to be expected. Everyone we met on the island was so friendly and willing to help. Overall the top tier rating that this property has gotten is for real. Jackie and Gil are super hosts and embody "mi casa es su casa" . Go ahead and book, you won't be disappointed.

I would give it 10 stars

There is no better place to stay in Vieques. Usually upon leaving a first time vacation spot we remark, "That was great, but next time we'll do such and such better." There is nothing we could do to improve upon this vacation. Jackie is the consummate hostess. She picked us up from the airport and drove us the 5 minutes to the casita, then did the same when we checked out. She was a pleasure to chat with, and helpful in her recommendations. The room was attractive and comfortable, providing all the necessary ammenities including a view of the ocean. Though, in truth, with all the beauty that Vieques has to offer, the only time we spent in the room was asleep. We ate in the outdoor kitchen, lounged and swam in the private pool, relaxed on our private balcony, and strolled along our private beach (a seperate beach from the W Hotel's). Located on the property of the W Hotel, but separate from the hotel, convenience was optimal. We rented our car at the hotel, left for our BioBay tour from the hotel, and ate twice at Sorce'. If you didn't want to leave this property, you absolutely wouldn't have to (though you would miss the gorgeous beaches Vieques has to offer). My husband and I went to Vieques to celebrate our 15 year anniversary with the intent to relax and do nothing. At Sandcastle Casitas, we were able to accomplish this on our own terms with relaxed luxury and ultimate privacy. It was perfection. We drove all over the island, and I wouldn't say anywhere else.

Just about everything anyone could ask for. Privacy, secluded beach, pool and great outdoor kitchen! Wild horses frequent the field beside the property and an occasional cat will stop by for a snack (made it feel homey)! Ron the property manager was very accommodating and picked us up from airport upon our arrival and was kind enough to pick up our luggage at the VRBO and picked us up at FUN BROTHERS (scooter rental) to take us back to airport for departure!

Lovely property - absolutely perfect

My wife and I stayed at Sandcastle Villas in one of the casitas and it was a wonderful stay. Very quiet and private area, so relaxing. The outdoor kitchen was awesome and every day we had breakfast by the pool as the flat top griddle plate allowed for eggs, pancakes, etc. to be cooked. Full sized fridge and coffee maker too. Also gas grill was available for use. Outdoor shower near pool was nice. In room A/C (we only used briefly and with windows closed, ceiling fan, television with US and local stations, nice shower and bathroom area. Bed was very comfortable and we fell asleep to gentle breezes and tranquility every night. Hosts were extremely polite and gracious. Ron, the home's caretaker, greeted us at the property and showed us around. He briefed us on local restaurants, snorkel spots, island history, and navigation. He was always available to answer questions and very helpful making our stay even that much more pleasant. Beach chairs, coolers, and equipment were available for use and the outdoor pool was so refreshing looking out toward Isabel Segunda and further in the distance, the island of Culebra. We could not have asked for a better time. The property is just a few minutes from the airport due east on the northern side of the island. I preferred this over the southern side (Esperanza) as it was more low key and peaceful (IMO). An amazing property with awesome hosts. We appreciated every moment we had at Sandcastle Villas.

This was a fantastic place to stay on Vieques. It was in an upscale neighborhood, a gated community with guards. The beach was a very short walk across the street. We enjoyed the beach, but the water was a bit rough for swimming. House is close to the airport as well as a golf cart rental business (walkable). It was a 10-minute golf cart ride to town, and 15-minute ride to Esperanza. I was a little confused about the setup of the "casita". There is a main house and a long patio with the two "casitas" on the right. There is a very well-equipped kitchen on the patio, at the end closest to the main house. There was also a washer and dryer to use, which was terrific! There are chairs, snorkeling equipment, boogie boards, etc. for your use. The only thing I would caution potential guests is that the main house is right there, and if you use the pool etc., the owners are in very close proximity. As luck would have it, they left the first morning of our stay and we did not see them again. But if they are in residence, you might not get a lot of privacy. The house was extremely well-kept and maintained. The caretakers were very attentive and fixed a tv issue we had pretty quickly. We didn't have to turn on the a/c once, as the breezes kept everything at a nice temperature. Bathroom was great, with hot water as needed. There are two "casitas" (essentially bedrooms with private baths), separated by an outdoor shower and bathroom (for pool usage). All in all, it was a fantastic location and a wonderful stay.

We loved staying at Sandcastles casitas! It’s a great spot, clean and comfortable with a beautiful pool and garden area and a short walk to a small beach. The owners Jackie and Gil are very nice and take great care of their home. Thank you for a great stay on this fabulous island!

Perfect getaway spot in paradise

Jackie's house is little a jewel with a private pool, amazing views and steps to a semi-private beach. The house and property are extremely well cared for and equipped with everything you need to spend the day at the beach: beach chairs, beach towels, beach umbrellas, snorkels and more. The outdoor kitchen had all we needed to make simple breakfasts before we explored Vieques and the outdoor shower helped us minimize the sand we brought back from the beach. Can’t wait for another opportunity to stay again and escape to paradise!

Spectacular!

This place is everything and then some! We had the most wonderful stay at Jackie and Gill's. Perfect location - not too far from airport, car rental, right on a beach, short drive to town and other side of the island. Our hosts were so helpful and our accommodations 5-star. Cannot recommend this place enough. Checked out many other lodging options and nothing compares.

Simply Beautiful

I was hesitant to booking this property due to the price compared to others on the island, but after exploring the island for a week I am so happy that I chose this Villa. Jackie picked us up at the airport as planned and gave us a tour of her amazing Villa in paradise. We spent many days staying at the Villa because it was so comfortable. We will definitely give this place 5 Stars.
