I’ve visited this area since I was a kid, and while it’s unfortunate to see how much the town has changed over the years, there are still people in the area who are trying to preserve it. Randy and Shannon along with their dog Strider happen to be some of these people! When we arrived, we met Shannon who gave us a tour of our cabin and walked us through the basics. After unpacking, we met Randy, who was just as friendly and welcoming as his wife. Randy has spent most of his life as a fishing charter captain on the lake, and the amount of knowledge he has of the lake and surrounding area is unbelievable. On Saturday nights they host a fish fry or BBQ which they invite all their cabin rental and charter guests to attend. The cabin is amazing, and you feel like you are in a cabin that has been in your family for generations. it was giving me serious “Possum Lodge” vibes from the Red Green Show. There is so much stuff on the walls to look at that you find new stuff to see every day. When Shannon was giving us a walk through, she mentioned that anything left behind just becomes a permanent piece of the cabin unless you drive back to pick it up. She also went on to say if you need a hat, take a hat. need sunglasses? take a pair, that’s just the type of place this is. I will say this place isn’t for everyone, and I would be a little skeptical of staying here with little kids as there is stuff EVERYWHERE that they could get into, but we felt at home and loved every minute.
