This was the perfect place to rest during our busy days exploring DC! The Eastern Market neighborhood is lovely, with beautiful old row houses, lush trees, and plenty of shops and cafes nearby. Eastern Market itself is a fabulous old market building still in use. The streets outside have open air vendors during the day. Thanks to the location, The most amazing part of our trip was the ease in getting around on the Metro (subway). We took Amtrak to DC, and were able to make it to the Eastern Market stop quite easily from Union Station. From there, we rolled our luggage less than a block away to our place. My kids are still at an age where they cannot do very long walks, but they managed all of this DC experience with ease because of the Metro. Eastern Market is just a ten minute ride from most of the major landmarks and museums, so this also means that as needed, we just hopped back to take a break. Close to Rita’s place are also, notably, Trader Joe’s and CVS (one minute walk) which helped us to manage costs of dining. Inside, the flat is literally and figuratively cool (we traveled in late May) and peaceful. There are two roll away cots so that our kids each had their own very cozy beds in the living room. I’d love to return to DC one day and I would absolutely stay here again. It was truly exceptional, a fabulous illustration to our kids of what it feels like to live in a classic, “real” city. We all loved seeing the sights and retreating to this perfect haven as needed.
