Good Location to Beach

The property was located within a short walk to the beach which made it perfect for our handicap family member. The house was very roomy with 3 good size bedrooms and baths. The overall condition of the house was good for the age of home but it could use a deep deep cleaning. Bathroom showers need a good bleaching for some mold issues. I sat in one chair when first arriving and there was sand all in the chair from previous renter. The outside of home/yard was suppose to have a natural look of wildflower/plant growth but was in need of some weeding and trimming. It was a bit overgrown and snakey looking. Yard maintenance and cleaning service need to be checked on. Also need to update cleaning supplies (broom, floor duster, etc) I could have swept a time or two from everyone bringing sand in the house but supplies were not good enough to use.

Wonderful Stay

We absolutely loved the spaciousness, the cleanliness, the pool, the close proximity to the beach and close proximity to St. Augustine. My child has health issues, so the handicapped design of the house was nice also.There were only a few minor things management might consider amending for the next folks. A few light bulbs were out, one of the toilets ran water periodically after flushing and my child's bathroom had some issues with managing the water coming out properly from the sink. The managment property also needs to amend the paperwork rules- as it stated to bring the house keys to a location /address they no longer occupied and we learned later the keys just needed to be put back in the lock box. This set us back on our drive home. We would stay at this home again though.

Seashell House - comfortable and convenient, needs a lil TLC

We rented this charming home as part of a large family reunion group. It was perfect for four adults and a toddler. The small pool and patio are comfortable. The kitchen is furnished with just about anything you might need. Tje owners artwork really adds to the decorating flare, very nice. The property is showing its age a bit (garage side door hard to function, front door lock sticky, wear and tear in laundry area and the kitchen cupboards weren’t really very clean, some appliances were dirty, we had a problem with those lil ants coming in through kitchen window, the front screen door was torn, the beds are not really very comfortable but we rested and enjoyed nonetheless.) All that aside, it really is a cute spot, you can tell the owner loves the house, we had great beach access across the street.

Family vacation

Was dissapointed....website stated hottub, but never worked. When asked about it - we were told that it is just a pool with jets within in the pool. That made no sense. Also - there are no king beds. There are 2 bedrooms with queen beds and then a 3rd room with 2 twin beds pushed together.....hard to even call that a room since it is just closet like sliding doors to "enclose" it. No privacy whatsoever for whoever is in that room.....you can hear everything! Also - in this day and age, there really should be a keypad for a lock. Very hard for a group to keep up with actual house keys at the beach.....lock pad would be much more efficient.

Great Vacation!

We had a great time visiting St. Augustine. We toured the historic downtown and took an eco-tour boat trip. We visited all the sites, shopped, ate good food, and saw dolphins. The beach was not crowded. There was plenty of room for us and our 2 dogs. The public access was close to the house and convenient. I wish the wooden walk way wasn’t so long and narrow (one person at a time) so it was difficult to carry your beach stuff especially when you meet someone on the walkway.

Great location, poor property management experience.

This place has great vibes and a great location, but we had some issues, This is our second time staying at the property. The first time was before children. This property is not ideal for small children needing darkness or quiet for sleep. Both of the bedrooms have glass doors with paper shades. Light from adjoining rooms pours through. The third room has double louver doors to the living room, so light and noise is unavoidable. This property is so cute, but lacks very basic privacy between spaces. The check in process is at a property management company down the street. Very antiquated. A lock box, key pad or app is what we are accustomed to. The front door also locks automatically so lock outs are more likely. The above are annoying, but minor. My real issue is the total lack of confluence between the property management company and VRBO. I messaged through VRBO that I was not bringing a pet but was charged the pet fee. The message goes directly to the property management company. They responded saying that they cannot change/refund issued with bookings made through VRBO. At check in, they said a person would be available to help on the day of my check out. At check out, that person said they could not help me. I contacted VRBO customer service they were lovely. They said they would call the property management company directly and figure it out. That was a week ago. I have not had any follow up and have not been refunded the pet fee.

Perfect Rental

Great property, convenient location and pet friendly is a plus! we will definitely stay here again. loved the fenced in yard and private pool. The only negatives are the mattresses are very uncomfortable and if you bring a dog, there is no grass in the yard you have to go across the street. but everything else overshadows those:) Would definitely recommend!!!!

Pleased Enough for a Return Stay!

We enjoyed our stay at Butler Beach on Anastasia Island. When we arrived at the managing realty company on a Saturday--the check-in day for summer rentals, the office was closed. I had to call the emergency number that I got from the regular number's message. The person who answered informed me there is a lock box renters have to access, but I was never provided the code. The house was being cleaned upon our arrival, so we had to kill an hour before we could get into the house and unpack. The cleaning service did a nice job. The house has 3 bedrooms--1st has a double Murphy bed with a full bath--shower only, 2nd has a king made from 2 twins with slat doors to the main living area (noise could be an issue) and a hall bath (tub/shower combo) right outside the room, and the 3rd is the master with a queen and a private bath with shower and large tub--wish it had a king here and it does not cool as easily as rest of house so we wished we had a box or oscillating fan since the ceiling fan clicks when turned above low. The master and Murphy bedrooms have glass paned French doors with paper shades instead of private doors. Kitchen is well stocked. Plenty of room in living area, but the smaller furniture is in front of the TV. The sofas should be switched, but it is probably because the larger sofa is a sleeper and when pulled out would be in the walkway. There is a decent sized full laundry room off the kitchen. The winner for this house is pet friendly and the small pool! Lounge chairs or comfortable chairs around the pool would have been a plus. There are 2 iron chairs uncomfortable for hanging out on. We used our beach chairs on the pool deck and there are camp style chairs provided in the garage. The walkway to the beach is 3 doors down and the boardwalk is a long, narrow walk (if you have a beach cart or a load in your arms, foot traffic coming towards you cannot get by) over the protected dunes. The beach is spacious and gorgeous. Four wheel drives are allowed on this section of the beach. The managing company was prompt on getting an HVAC repair person out when the AC quit working. This was essential during a Florida summer! We are returning to this property next summer.

We had an incredible week staying at this property. Short walk to the beach. Good sized three bedrooms and three bathrooms made it easy for our blended family. Kitchen is fully stocked & made the trip so easy. Will come back again.

Great house and vacation!

This was our first trip to St. Augustine and we loved it. The house was perfect for the four of us. Very clean, updated, well appointed, and plenty of beach items in the garage if you forgot to pack chairs or toys! It's always worrisome to book a house based on pics and reviews but this house was better than expected. The AC worked very well (really important in the Florida heat!) and we are so glad we booked a house with a pool. The pool is small but just what was needed for a quick dip to cool off or to float and relax. The two sitting areas was an added bonus for us because it is our tradition to work on a puzzle at the beach so we had a perfect puzzling space on one of the coffee tables. The beach access is a very short walk and the drive to the historic district is about 15 minutes. I would definitely recommend this house and A1A realty.

Well kept, clean, had everything we needed!

This property was perfect for our stay! The kitchen and laundry room were stocked with pretty much every amenity we needed. Having the pool was perfect with the sweltering August heat! Key pick up and drop off was super easy. Only thing that would have helped would have been a note or two on the hot tub controls but other than that, nothing at all to complain about. Great location, great house, great vacation!

Home was very comfortable and well stocked for play at the pool or the beach.

We completely enjoyed our stay at the Seashell House. The reality company was great to work with. Enjoyed several good restaurants such as; Hurrican's grille, Mango Mangos, and Surfside Grille all great places to eat. Close to the Alligator Farm, Ripleys Believe it or Not, Historic St Augustine, and Castillo de San Marcos. Butler Beach, which is only a short walk away from the house, is dog friendly and you can drive onto the beach.We will definitely be visiting this area a d this home again. ♡♡♡

Perfect for my growing family

This property is very well maintained, and has a very good air conditioning system for the hottest days in July. The walk to the beach is very short, and took only 2 minutes. Everything you could possibly need is there for your family, except for the food of course. Nice restaurants are close too. This was perfect for our growing family.

Wonderful, comfortable, well-equipped beach house

What a wonderful, comfortable, well-equipped beach house surrounded by beautiful flowers. At one time this was probably an old style Florida beach cottage-but it was expanded to add a large master bedroom and bath and maybe the dining room. Most of the rooms, kitchen and bathrooms (3) appear to have been modernized and upgraded. They all have showers and baths. It has a small but lovely, mostly private pool that was a lifesaver for my wife and I during the intensely hot/sunny beach mid-days in June. The house (Seashell) is located in a small “neighborhood” that has mostly modest sized vacation homes nestled a good 100 yards from the beach behind a row of natural, vegetated dunes (home to gopher tortoises and rabbits). There is a wooden walkway about three houses down from the house that connects with Butler beach – a beautiful- not very crowded expanse of sand and warm surf. One of the best aspects of Seashell is dogs are welcome in the house (for a small fee) and they are allowed on the beach on a leash. Our dog River loved the beach and the fenced in yard around the pool in which she could explore. Sea Shell itself is plenty large enough to accommodate/sleep at least 6 adults (8 with the foldout couches) and probably some children (and a dog?). There are plenty of couches and chairs to lounge on – including some on the patio outside. The master bedroom was very comfortable – the queen bed was firm but good for us. The kitchen is really well equipped with dishes, silverware, glasses, cups, pots, pans, coffee maker, toaster –large refrigerator/freezer – you name it. Probably the best equipped home we have ever rented. The owner is an artist who’s gorgeous watercolors adorn the walls along with many other originals from other local? artists. It makes the house feel very welcoming and lived-in. There are plenty of good restaurants and shopping within a few miles and downtown St. Augustine is only about a 15 minute drive away. If you are looking for a modern, upscale, fancy beach place or condo….this is not for you. But if you are interested in a very comfortable functional vacation beach house, we highly recommend it.

Outdated but it has a pool

The plus to this home was the pool and the short walk to the beach, but I wouldn't stay in this home again. The overall feel of this home was old. The air was damp despite the AC being on. The beds were all uncomfortable and the master bedroom and bath was difficult to get cooled off...I believe because it was an add-on to the existing home. The items in the kitchen were old, and there was no ice maker in the fridge. AND this management company isn't the greatest. I've never been required to do so many housekeeping things (stripping beds, etc) before checking out, and the company that they pay to do the cleaning did a very poor job. There were cleaning product bottle left in the shower and the rugs from the bathrooms were damp and piled on top of the washer and dryers. Gross!

Charming & spacious

My first impression was that the house appeared smaller than depicted HOWEVER the home is spacious and well laid out. Four adults and two dogs had a wonderful and relaxing time. The bedrooms were large & separate. The three baths were a nice size and the garden tub in the master suite was a nice touch. The house was very clean, decorated nicely & included many amenities: plastic ware for around the pool; a rolling cart for use to the beach and a hose area for washing the dogs & our feet.The pool and yard area was perfect for lounging. The wooden walkway to the beach was convenient & scenic. We loved being able to stay at a pet friendly home & in a neighborhood where we could take leisurely walks. The beach being only steps away. Rick was pleasant & responded quickly to any questions we had during the rental process. Christina (the cleaning lady) was gracious & the home was spotless. We would definitely rent this home again.

The beds were comfortable and having three bathrooms was great! The pool area, while a little small, was a lot of fun for the kids. It took less than a 3 minute walk across a nice bridge to get to the beach. The drive in to St. Augustine with all the attractions was less than 15 minutes. The house was clean and well maintained. The pictures on the site don't do the home justice. My son who is in a wheelchair was able to access the whole house (one of the showers is even wheelchair accessible) My only piece of advice is to be sure to bring some socks! The air conditioner works so well that our feet were cold the whole week. I would definately stay in this home again.
