Enjoy an architecturally gorgeous slice of Texas History less than 3 blocks from the seawall at the historic Hancom House. Built in 1890, this fully updated and furnished first floor suite was one of the few survivors of the Great Galveston Hurricane of 1900. Past the wraparound porch, you'll find 2 comfortable bedrooms, full laundry, a spacious kitchen, and 1400 square feet of space to relax and enjoy your beach vacation.

Welcome to your home away from home! During your stay, we hope you enjoy the historic charm of this beautiful 100-year-old house!

Owner filed a false insurance claim against us

When we first arrived there was no AC and it was hot in Galveston. Owner was unavailable for several hours, then took several more to get the AC fixed. The pull out couch in the living room was broken and could not be used. We ate out and didn't even use the kitchen and the owner filed a false claim that we broke the garbage disposal and some outdoor decor. We damaged nothing and we were barely there as it was too hot to hang out there. The towels smelled dirty.

Awful do not stay here

We booked for 2 nights one before our cruise and one after. The first day, we showed up at check in time 4pm and there was no AC. It was super hot in Galveston, Tx. Took him several hours to get it fixed. The house smelled musty and moldy, and there were no clean towels, we had to wash them ourselves because they stunk badly. The couch bed was broken and unable to be used. The WIFI didn't work either. Found out later that he filed an insurance claim against us. Stating that we broke the garbage disposal and outside decor. We never used the kitchen, we ate out and by no means did we damage anything. The second night one week later, we paid extra for early check in. We showed up on time and the house was not ready, beds were unmade and there were no towels and the dishwasher was running. We called and after several tries finally got ahold of owner. He said we would have to leave while the cleaning lady came to clean. It was storming and we could not go into the house or even wait on the porch. We drove around for about an hour when we received a text from the owner asking why we were harrassing the cleaning lady and wouldn't let her in. We were not even there. Then he said the cleaning lady stated that we were planning to steal things, we never met or spoke to her. We were done at that point. Asked for a refund (we never received) and did not stay in the house at all. We had nothing but issues with the owner and he accused us of things that never happened.

Beautiful historic place

I hate leaving less than positive reviews . The house itself is a historical beauty . Absolutely loved being able to see this old home . The inside was a little dirty but it’s a home and no one’s is perfect , right ?. The sheets for the fold out couch were stained with blood . That’s a little more than I can handle , we raised 2 boys and we can hale a lot lol . The couch bed was also in bad shape and it was very hot inside the home . If your wanting to see a beautiful old home , this is one to see . Just hope it’s a little cleaner for you if you go. 😊

Not a accurate replication of listing.

Light and fan does not work in master suit. Ac and window units do mot work. WiFi and tvs do not work. Bathroom sink is very slow to drank, toilet is very slow to fill. When messaging the owners they kept asking us to try many different things to fix these issues, it was not Our job since we paid full price to keep checking different things at 10pm but we did. Nothing ever fixed the problems And when we asked for just a portion of the money back we got no answer. We paid full price we wanted the full price experience. But we could have received much better at a motel 6. This was horrible night sleep with no ac and the tan not working. We will not be staying at any more houses. This has ruined the entire experience for me and my husband
