Live the Life of a Jackson Local
We love allowing guests to experience our home when we travel for extended periods of time. Located in the neighborhood of East Jackson, equidistant from the main Cache Creek Trailhead and the shops and restaurants around Jackson's Town Square, our home has two bedrooms (each a suite, with the primary on the second floor and the guest suite on the main floor), an amazing south-facing deck off the combined kitchen/dining/living room (with views of Snow King) and a private east facing deck (looking at the Gros Ventre Mountains) off the primary suite. The walk into downtown is about 20 minutes. The nearest trailhead is a 7-minute walk (or 3-minute bike ride). Moose frequently nibble on our crabapple trees. We call our home "The Palace of Light, Shadow, and Awesomeness" and love it because it makes us happy. It is contemporary in design, colorful, uncluttered, and full of interesting artwork.
Designed by noted architecture firm CLB, the house has been featured on Dezeen.com, Dwell.com, Contemporist.com, and DailyMail.com, among other websites.
In March–April 2025, we are remodeling the downstairs guest suite. The current photos will not reflect what it will look like. It will have a California King bed with Coyuchi linens and an upholstered headboard, a closet, a dresser, and small sitting area. The other room on the ground floor is a home office that we lock off. It connects to the guest suite via the bathroom, but is not accessible to guests.
There is also a laundry room on the ground floor.
There is no ability to park cars inside the garage (it is dedicated to our gear). Parking is under an overhang in front of the garage and there is space for 2 cars.

Über den Gastgeber
Dein Gastgeber

I moved to Jackson in 1997 to learn how to ski and to stalk Harrison Ford for one year before moving on to law school. I never left. (Learning to ski is an ongoing adventure and I have met Harrison Ford, and even flown in his helicopter during my time as a volunteer on the Teton County Search & Rescue team). I've been a freelance writer and editor since 2000, specializing in outdoor adventure, profiles, gear, and architecture and design. I've written three books about Jackson Hole, Wyoming, and/or Yellowstone, including a hiking guide to Jackson Hole, and am the editor of Jackson Hole magazine. I have written more guides to Jackson Hole and Grand Teton and Yellowstone National Parks, so if you're looking for ideas of things to do and/or see, I have plenty to share.
I also do communications work for a nonprofit that does work very close to my heart, Friends of the Bridger-Teton. I moved to Jackson Hole because of the Tetons, but have stayed because of the 3.4 million acre Bridger-Teton National Forest (it's the third largest national forest in the lower 48 states). Whether hiking or skiing on Snow King, which is about .5 mile away, fat biking or Nordic skiing up Cache Creek, or enjoying the views of the Tetons from the top of Crystal Butte, I am on the BTNF pretty much everyday.

Darum fiel die Entscheidung auf diese Unterkunft
I have lived in East Jackson for 27 of the 28 years I've been in Jackson. I love that it is close to both downtown and to trailheads in the Bridger-Teton National Forest. I also enjoy the diversity of homes in the neighborhood—from gorgeous high-end new construction to log cabins from the 1930s and Boise-Cascade homes from the 1970s and 80s.
Das macht diese Unterkunft einzigartig
We rent this home out, but it is very much our home. This is not a boring space with a palettes of greys, whites, and beiges. Color makes us happy and we apply it liberally—there are some orange walls (orange is my husband's favorite color) and the artwork is colorful, too.
When not writing about Jackson Hole and things to do here, I write about travel. I have been to more than 100 countries and much of the artwork in the home are pieces collected on my travels (embroidery from Uzibekistan, beaded necklaces from Kenya, thangkas from Kathmandu).
The south facing deck off the main upstairs public space (a combined kitchen/dining/living room) might be the most perfect hammock spot in the world (that you don't have to hike or paddle to to access).
