Eagle's Hideaway is a secluded waterfront getaway just an hour outside of Chicago, a mile from historic Route 66.

The home has laminate and stone flooring and is designed so your dog can be included in your getaway in a worry free, comfortable environment.

This cozy river hideaway features an open floor plan with vaulted ceilings. Incredible views of the river can be seen from the family room and kitchen. Patio doors off the family room lead out to a deck that overlooks the river. Separate laundry room right off the family room with large capacity washer and dryer. Bathroom features walk in shower. The first bedroom has a king bed, the second bedroom has a queen bed and the third bedroom has two twin beds. The third bedroom is a low ceiling loft that looks out over the family room and kitchen. It is favorite of adults and kids alike and is referred to as the "Eagle's Nest". The loft is accessible by a hidden ladder in the closet of the king bedroom.

The property also has a unique game room with a 1890's vintage pool table and more incredible views of the river.

Please note, we own a second, smaller home on the far side of the property and it will be listed on VRBO Spring of 2024. If you are interested in renting both properties at once please specify in your initial message. Otherwise there may be other guests occupying that home and the shoreline in front of it.

Second time back

We love this space so much that it’s our second time staying here. Right on the river, isolated and private with just one house next door and very very peaceful. Took the dog and he swam from sun up to sun down. Just be careful when the river starts to flow, it is fast. But even just sitting on the dock watching him swim was enough for us. Already planning a trip next.

Loved it!

The rental was fantastic! The view from the picture windows looking onto the Kankakee River was breathtaking. We especially enjoyed sitting on the large porch by the river watching the ducks, birds, and geese doing their thing. The house was comfortable and inviting and my great granddaughter loved to play in the loft. I definitely will be renting this lovely peaceful place again!

We loved staying at this lovely house! Pretty views and spacious kitchen/living area. Well stocked and well thought out- the owners cleverly and elegantly labeled the drawers! Holiday weekend

We were very pleased with our stay. Not only was the house spotless, we appreciated the little “extras”. I forgot coffee, and they had it covered. We were sitting by the river and thought some water would be nice. There it was in the outdoor kitchen mini fridge. This place is very relaxing. I’d stay here again.

Beautiful property on the river

The house was spotless and exactly as described. It is seculuded but also very close to the highway and town. We enjoyed most of our time by the river around the camp fire. It was perfect. And the owner was the cherry on top. She was very responsive and very helpful. We hope to make this an annual trip!

Great River House

Our family had such an awesome stay at this river house. It was fairly easy to find and the location was perfect. The view of the river was amazing, almost felt like a small lake it's so wide. The kitchen had everything and more to comfortably cook and enjoy with the view. The grill was also a great surprise as it is fueled by a gas line - no worries of running out of propane. The eagles nest kid loft is so much fun. The kids loved getting their own space and sleepy there every night. We had such a great stay. I highly recommend this house and hope to stay again.

Absolutely Amazing!

First of all I am beyond glad this house is available in this area! The house is in an amazing little spot right on the river. While there was a neighbor right next door, it still felt secluded. It was clean, stocked with everything we could need (including actual shower towels which was nice!). The owner was easy to get ahold of and easy to work with. Even though its close to home, ill be sure to keep this on my radar for guests in the future!

FANTASTIC - ON LINE REVIEW DOES NOT SAY ENOUGH

The property was clean and very comfortable for 4 adults. They had everything we needed for a very enjoyable 4 day stay. The surprise was the lower deck on the riverfront. It had a small room with a mini fridge and freezer for drinks and ice along with a large fan to keep the insects away and a large area for the dog to run. 5 plus stars and will return. Eagles, various birds and deer in a very wooded area. Places to sun and shade. Wade across the river(deepest spot chest deep I am 5'10 but you can stay knee deep if you want.)

AMAZING!!!

I cannot say enough about how wonderful our stay was at the river house! We typically stay at lake homes but was more of a last minute trip! The home owner was so timely and communicative since prior to our booking! We had 6 people stay and then also my nephews were able to join us for one of the days we were there! They have thought of everything you may need my mom literally told me every day! Fully stocked kitchen, board games (came in handy the one day it rained quite a bit), firewood, bait, gas grill set to gasoline so we wouldn’t run out. We took full advantage of the river fishing, tubing, and swimming. My dad also brought his fishing boat went about 10 min away to Braidwood lake. Meanwhile my mom, daughter and I went to town to check out the cute antique shops. There was a list of nearby attractions and restaurants as well. “The bathtub” is a must and was good for kids of all ages! The Landing Point restaurant had great ice cream. We ended up going to dinner at a seafood restaurant called Big Fish Grille it was about 15-20 min away but just amazing. I cannot wait to book for next year!

If you want to fill your getaway with more activities, there are plenty of outdoor options since the river is literally in the backyard. Like fishing, swimming, kayaking and tubing.
