Come enjoy relaxation at The Hide Away located in beautiful Kill Devil Hills! Take a 10-15 minute walk either East or West and end up at the gorgeous beach access with accessible parking, or the understated sound. Bring your boat and put it in the sound at the public boat ramp! Kids of all ages will enjoy the amenities that will make you feel at home. Pick your daytime activity such as going to one of our nature reserves and museums, a shopping trip at our many surf shops, a day at H2Obx waterpark, or fishing at one of the local fishing piers, and finish it off with a delicious dinner at one of our local seafood restaurants. If you aren't exhausted after that, take a dip in our brand new hot tub.

Great Stay

Amazing stay. The host was very accommodating when checking in when we ran into issue with our vehicle. Everything was clean and as described. Recommend for anyone who wants a nice place to stay at!

Well Kept Welcoming Home!

A very well kept, clean and cute place! The extras were helpful and appreciated (sheets, towels, paper towels, etc.). Beds were comfortable and neighbors were lovely. The host was very communicative and responsive to messages. Would definitely recommend!

Fall trip to OBX

Thumbs up overall. I arrived a day early ahead of my party and immediately claimed the largest bedroom. The grill, the hot tub, the fridge, the wifi, everything worked. Minor inconvenience was the lack of dishwasher. We mostly solved that with disposable stuff. Walking distance to the beach and amenities, highly recommend.

Fabulous Hideaway House!

I came with 2 of my friends and we had a wonderful time! The house was very clean and well maintained. The hot tub was fabulous and you can tell it’s either new or maintenanced enough that it feels like it’s new. It’s about a 15 minute walk to the beach, all on sidewalks and very easy. All of the little touches made our stay even more wonderful…having a coffee pot and a keurig (both got used frequently), linens, the charging stations in the rooms, extra throw blankets, and all of the little things provided for that you normally forget (hand soap, dish towels, paper towels, etc)! As someone who doesn’t love fragrances, the sheets being washed in unsecured detergent was the icing on the cake! Beds are super comfortable and they have actual shades instead of curtains, which is so nice waking up without having the sun directly in your eyes! Most of all, Natalie was WONDERFUL to work with. She responds quickly and goes above and beyond to make her guests feel welcome. We got to get into the house a few hours early because she let us know it was ready, which was much appreciated. All in all, I highly recommend this house!!

Quiet Neighborhood, Close to the Beach

We had a wonderful trip to OBX. We were able to easily access the home, beds were comfortable, kitchen was stocked with items for cooking etc. Public beach access was nearby. We noticed some wear in the house and some items were broken when we arrived that we will address with the property owner. Assuming that is part of renting but will hopefully be addressed once made aware. Overall appreciated our stay!

Best relaxing spot ever

I had a wonderful, relaxing great weekend. This is a quiet neighborhood. Miss Natalie was a wonderful, great host She responds quickly to all messages. Just a very pleasant person. Her home was amazing. Hot tub was great. I will be returning. They’re also close by shops where you can do your shopping. Perfect for a weekend away!

A few friends and I stayed here the first weekend of February and really enjoyed the house. It was so cute and perfect for 4 adults (2 sharing a room) and would be great for families visiting. The house was well stocked with plenty of cups, mugs, coffee, TP, paper towels and cooking utensils. The couch and beds were comfortable. Overall we had a great stay and would definitely book again.

Fantastic KDH find!!

House was perfect for a full house! The hot tub was perfect!!!! 🤩 It was such a cozy stay & had everything we needed! The HOSTS were wonderful & highly accommodating, really I can’t say enough positive things about them! We would love to come back anytime! (Winter time is best time to book in OBX!! No traffic, beautiful sunsets etc)

Perfect Getaway

Property was exactly as listed! Hot tub was such a nice feature! The hosts were so responsive. The VRBO site crashed the day of our check-in and they made sure we got all of the information we needed. As an added bonus, they provided fantastic local recommendations! We really appreciated this - it helps us make our short, off-season getaway very enjoyable. Definitely would rent this house again!

Perfect beach vacation rental

Fantastic location close to everything. Multiple beach entrances, grocery stores, restaurants etc very close to the property. Quiet culdesac location and wonderful deck, outdoor shower for post beach cleanup, and hot tub. Gracious hosts. We wish we could have stayed longer. Will definitely be back.

A lovely stay with all the comforts of home

We stayed at this property recently and it was lovely. It served as an excellent home base for us to relax in while zipping off during the day to enjoy the beach, long drives to see lighthouses, and other fun things in the area. Kids were pleased to have their own rooms. Having 2 bathrooms made family life much smoother. The beds were comfy and well made. Everyone enjoyed the hot tub! The hosts were welcoming and everything went off without a hitch. All-in-all a great stay

Quiet neighborhood, great location

This house is located on a cul-de-sac in a quiet, family-friendly neighborhood, yet centrally located to the fun of Kill Devil Hills. The home was super clean, the beds were comfortable with clean linens, AC was excellent. Although we were supposed to be responsible for TP, paper towels, trash bags etc, the owner went above and beyond and had stocked those items prior to our arrival. The stash of paper goods, plastic utensils etc was such a bonus! As was the stocked k-cup drawer. The hot tub was clean on arrival and serviced mid-week as well. The one and ONLY thing with the listing that I thought was misleading was neglecting to state that while yes, it is only a 5 minute walk to the beach, you do have to cross a pretty major highway. Again, not an issue, didn't at all take away from our stay. The owner was quick to respond to all of my communications prior to and during our stay. I very highly recommend booking this property! So much better than staying at a hotel, especially with a family.

Home away from home

My husband and I as well as our teenage daughter and her friend had a most pleasant stay at The Hideaway. It was very clean. Kitchen well equipped with cooking/baking equipment as well as utensils and attractive plates/bowls. Keurig beverages much appreciated! Netflix and WiFi connections provided entertainment on late nights.. Of course, the beach excursions are precious. Beach access is just a 5 minute walk away. Beautiful sunset at the sound in the area also experienced. Great night sleep on comfortable beds. Temperature in the house well regulated. Hot tub with fun lights enjoyed. The Hideaway is located in a quiet cul de sac that provided a relaxed atmosphere. Nicole was very helpful and responsive to our questions in a timely manner.. She also made great recommendations with regards places to visit and good eats. The house is within 5 to 15 minutes away from grocery stores, movie house, shops, restaurants and of course the beach.. Overall a very positive relaxing, restorative, bonding experience. Hoping to be back next year!

I'm Tommy Ritchie. I was born and raised on the Outer Banks and grew up on third street, often biking to the beach for surf swells or skating around the beach town with my friends. Later I found my wife, Natalie Ritchie, who grew up right around the corner in Manteo. Now we live together in Kill Devil Hills with our kids, spending lots of time in the sun. I've always worked for the people of my community, and i wouldn't trade it for the world. We love where we live, and it would mean everything to be able to spread the love to anyone else interested in experiencing everything the Outer Banks has to offer for themselves.

The beach access nearest to this property (approx. 5 minute walk) is the widest beach you will find in Kill Devil Hills and the neighboring towns as well as a snorkel-accessible ship wreck only two beach accesses down. In the opposite direction, you can find the sound, which offers water sports such as wakeboarding, water skiing, jet skiing, and kayaking, as well as breath taking sunsets that stretch to the ocean, creating a saturated cotton candy sky you can view from the front porch. Everything you need is within a mile distance from the house. Literally. For real.
