Very close to beach, hot tub and private pool!

As others had mentioned, the house wasn’t pristine (stained carpet, missing blinds and screens), but that was perfect for our group given the price. Super close walk to beach access and the basement game area was awesome for the young and young at heart. Roku TVs were easy to navigate as was the internet. The pool (and attendant who we met briefly) were awesome. If you are bringing your dog, make sure they are up on a good quality flea medication. The front yard had a lot of fleas that the humans were able to manage with bug spray.

The home was adequate

The house has the basic necessities and loved having the option for a hot tub and pool. Having separate bedrooms with their own bathrooms was AMAZING, the beds are super hard though.

The house was lived in. Needs updated but its a beach home. The pool and hot tub were amazing. Huge pool. Dog friendly home. Did carpet have stains, yes. Didnt bother us. Game On

The home was just what we were looking for on our family vacation and we had a great time! The only three minor issues was the outside staircase lighting, as it was not working and it was very hard to see which could’ve been a trip/fall hazard, the tv screen in the king bedroom was broken, and it was hard to find the home at night (it would be nice to have a sign on the road with an arrow and the house number on it). When I contacted Vacasa, the team submitted a ticket and said it would get taken care of. It was very easy & effortless to communicate with them. Other than that we loved staying at ‘Game on’! It was a short walk to the beach, the pool & hot tub were great, there were tons of fun family games, more than enough space, we found lots of seashells, and we were excited that each room had its own bathroom as the listing made it seem like 2 of the bedrooms had to share one; so we were pleasantly surprised! I would definitely recommend this place, it was just what we needed for our 5 day family vacation.

Needs much TLC

We had a great time in the OBX but will not be renting this property again home needs much TLC and is just a bit run down, lacking basic maintenance. It could use a deep cleaning and new carpet. There are no cleaning products available in the home to clean up ourselves if we wanted to clean the floors. Sinks and tub/showers were clean and usable.

Enjoyable stay

It was an enjoyable stay. 7 mins of walking to the beach. Each room has its own bathroom is a plus!. Toiletries and bedding are good 👍. Few things to improve: 1 room has a damper corner which has unpleasant odor. Need garbage disposal. No hair dryer.

The house and pool was great except for a few things..... needs new blinds(broken) or can't shut them and carpet needs to have a good cleaning. We had blonde dog hair all in our bedroom. The dishwasher could be replaced, didn't clean so well. But, besides those things, we had awesome week with family. Overlooked the important but, unimportant stuff. Just letting you know, a few things would help.

Nice time for the pricey

Well it was great for the time we were there buuutt it needs a lot of tlc. The pool is cracked and is slowly leaking. None of the toilet paper roller things worked so tp was on back of the toilet which is okay but come on… the tiles were cracked and lifting but still looked beautiful. Oh and them mattresses definitely need an upgrade! The pool shower does not work. And need a better grill option. But hey like I said it was nice for the price

Ants and roaches and dirt..oh my

Our family of 7 loved the OBX ! And this location was amazing . Very short walk to the beach ,which was nearly empty everyday. Short 5 min drive to the salvo day area sound side beach . That's where the good review stops. The pictures are definitely from years ago,beacuse this house is definitely in need of alot of upkeep and maintenance. Not only that..but it was filthy. Upon arriving,we had to immediately vacuum the floors that were covered in dirt,sand,crumbs and dog hair. It was obvious they did not even attempt to clean . Then we noticed the ants . All over the kitchen counter. We tried unsuccessfully to reach the local team at Vacasa. The worst customer service I have ever experienced. They still have not gotten back to me . We bought ant traps to keep them at bay..however by the end of the week they had taken back over the kitchen. And the pool area was covered in red ants ,and we were covered in bites. But it doesn't stop there.. We killed at least 3 oriental cockroaches that were roughly 2 inches in size. So if you stay here..leave your luggage outside when you return home. We had a great time at the beach,it's just unfortunate that we can't say the same about this house. Will likely never rent from a vacasa home again

Bare minimum

The house was definitely large enough to accommodate the family. It wasn't large enough to accommodate the SPIDERS, cockroaches, and ants. The spiders actually came into the shower with us a few times. I did request help, none given. The dishwasher was not attached, and when the door was opened to load it, it would fall out, you had to hold it in. Again, no help given(waited for the repairman one day till 1:30 no call no show...he had called the day before while we where on the beach and set up the appointment that he didn't keep)..OH the ANTS!! Those would crawl into the dog's food bowl if she didn't eat soon after I filled it, again no help. The ants are also all over the lower level picnic table(which we never used)The dryer is very rusty, the washer is extremely basic and old, and the pools liner is pulling away from the wall of the pool. The grill provided was absolutely not usable. It was so rusted out the only thing holding it together was the grease. It was gross, I don't think it had ever been cleaned, and should have been replaced years ago. The dust!! Don't look up! The dust is clinging to the ceiling fans and lights. The air filters are filthy. No remote for the master TV. With some good cleaning, pest control and some attention paid to the appliances, it could be a 4 rating. Never a 5...too far from the beach! Thankfully we had a good vacation in spite of the house...love my family!

could have been a lot better

Our issues have more to do with Vacasa than the house: - 6pm check-in? We've traveled a ton and never experienced this late of a check-in. We rent from Vacasa each year and this is our 2nd rental through them this summer. When we originally booked, the house was with another property mgmt company that had a 4pm check in. With kids and unpacking, there isn't time to get out to the beach, so that's one less day of vacation in our minds. - And the beds are not made when we arrive? There was a package of sheets on each bed, which was bizarre. I'm sure they'll say it's "reassurance the sheets are clean" but after a 7 hour drive and unpacking, making beds is the last thing I want to do. - Speaking of clean, it probably was a good thing we knew the sheets had been washed. The dishes in the cabinets were dirty. Doritos crumbs in bowls dirty. Even if it was the guests who did this, these were the top plates and bowls so housekeeping could have seen this if they checked. The pool shower area had trash and a half-smoked cigar in it. - The dishwasher wasn't attached so it flopped forward about 10" every time you pulled out a rack. One person had to hold the racks while the other loaded/unloaded. We made multiple requests to have it fixed but no one ever set up a time for someone to fix it. - It's 1/3+ mile to the beach according to our Apple watches. A golf cart won't help much and there is no place to park it. Definitely get a beach cart through VayK rentals! - Despite that, we enjoyed all the space in the house, pool and hot tub, and basement area for kids.

Beautiful home with significant potential - but....

First lets start with the company that maintains the pool & hot tub. They did a fantastic job. We didn't have any issues with either and the pool & hot tub served us with excellence. To the on-site Vacasa employees who addressed maintenance issues. Super friendly & professional. Very helpful & ready to lend a hand. We appreciate you very much. To the Vacasa team on the phones. I don't like being lied to. The language barrier is a challenge and when I politely asked to be transfered to someone in the United States, I was told that it wasn't possible. To the homeowner. Sir or maam. Please spend some money on this house. The beds are awful. Even in previous reviews, it's mentioned how uncomfortable the beds are. Shame on Vacasa for saying (over the phone) that they had been addressed - they have not. The appliances in your house are dated. It's time to freshen them up with something more modern. New carpet would be great, or since you're kind enough to be pet friendly - remove the stained carpet. Finally - let's talk aobut the pillows. My dog loves to sleep on the pillow next to me. The pillows in this house are so uncomfortable that even the dog slept elsewhere on the bed. I'm convinced these pillows were discounted purchased from TeMu. This house has amazing potential. Unfortunately, the issues overshadowed an otherwise beautiful home. If you want my advice - rent another home. At least until this one has been updated (especially the beds and pillows). The appliances are worked, but they need replacing too. If you choose to stay here - you cannot see the sound or ocean from this house. There are a lot of stairs - nothing about this house is ADA compliant. It's a pretty house, the games are a great touch, it's pet friendly (huge bonus), and there is easily room for 8 people to be very comfortable. Heads- up - when they say "eight" people - that's how many towels & wash cloths you get. No extras for the pool. Plan on washing towels often. Have a great vacation. Despite the issues with the house - we had an amazing time. We love the OBX.

Spacious Home Walking Distance to Beach

Game On 203 was very spacious, and we loved that there was a bathroom attached to each bedroom! The house is conveniently located within walking distance to the beach. The lower level was great with different game tables. There was a sleeper sofa on the 1st and 3rd level. There were property management issues that are noteworthy - no window covering on the east facing window (sunrise) in the bunk room; the outside shower was not operable; the pool was full of sand (likely because guests could not rinse in the outside shower); blown light bulbs all throughout; the dishwasher was not attached to the counter and literally would fall over/out when you pulled the top rack out; and don't expect outdoor chairs as advertised in the pictures -- they're all broken. With some maintenance, I would have rated this property a 4 or 5 because the house itself and location are great.

Relaxing Get Away Home

Game On 203 provided us with a fantastic, relaxing week-long get away. There was plenty of room and the house was equipped with everything we could need for the week. We loved the pool and the quick, easy walk to the beach. This is the great rental for a family looking for a low-key but fun vacation in the OBX. The inside of the house was clean however the kitchen had tons of tiny ants despite all the wiping and cleaning we did all week long and we did find some cockroaches inside and out. After googling, we discovered that cockroaches are common in beach houses but still super gross to see them where you are staying! Outdoors could use a major clean up, as there was a lot of litter and tons of cigarette butts on the ground and on the deck when we got there, despite it being a smoke free rental. There were several cracked and broken plastic chairs outdoors on the deck and by the pool area. I also want to note that the dish washer is not anchored to the counter and falls forward when you pull out either of the dish racks to load or unload. This could be really dangerous for a family with small children - this needs attention!!! Although I pointed out some areas for concern, overall we had a wonderful time at Game On 203. The pool and quick walk to the beach were ideal for our family. We also loved the ability to have our pups with us too. This was their first vacation with us and they loved it!

Game On was a very nice beach house that is pet friendly. The house was overall a nice house and a good price. The house is a little dated and could use some upgrades such as the carpet , new pool and deck furniture, and some of the sliding glass sores did not open due to rust. The house was clean for the most part. Except I think they forgot to mop the floors and run the vacuum. Other than those few issues it was a lovely time.

Lots of fun in this house

We must have picked THE worst week for our beach vacation. The road in and out of the island flooded, and we were stuck for 4 days during our vacation. It stormed EVERY day we were there. And yet, it was one of the best vacations we’ve all had in a long time. There was plenty to do in the house to keep us occupied: TV, DVD player, puzzles, games, pool table. There was a grocery store nearby so we could go get hot chocolate and tea instead of drinking the iced fruity drinks we’d brought with us. I like to cook and bake, and the kitchen was stocked enough to earn my badge of approval (rolling pin…nice!!). We never got to take advantage of the pool and hot tub…but we’ll be back.

This is a nice and clean house. The backyard has trees and such along the property sides which gives a feeling of privacy which was fantastic! The private dock was great also. This review was submitted while the home was managed by a different property management company.
