I reserved this unit for the holidays to visit family nearby. After 15 hrs of driving across the country with a 1 y/o, 3 y/o, dog and my husband, and receiving all the messages from VRBO that "unit is ready", and "here's the keys to unlock your rental", we show up, but the link doesn't work - called the owner and said - oh, unit isn't available - I forgot to remove it from the listing as they were downsizing their property rentals and had a lot going on. Seriously? You couldn't cancel this anytime in the 3 months of us booking it? Why did we receive emails that it was ready? We had fully paid for it. There was no real care in what we should do from this point forward.
I ended up calling VRBO customer service. They were going to put us in a hotel for 3 nights and then find a comparable property for the following 6 nights. BEWARE of this renter and of VRBO. It's totally within the rights to just get cancelled last minute. Nobody really cared about our situation and the fact that it was deceiving, saying the unit was ready. We did get a full refund, but after using them for many years, I will not be using VRBO again. too risky when traveling across the country to just get cancelled like that last minute.
