Only one air-conditioning unit in the whole property
On arrival we were met by the family who welcomed us and then showed us the nearest shops. This is a 5 minute car journey.
The house is big and clean but we realised immediately that there was no air-conditioning in the bedrooms despite it being described as air-conditioned in two places on the HomeAway description - this made sleeping difficult as we had temperatures of up to 38 degrees! We would not have booked this property had we known this. There is a cockerel who crows at any time of day or night and despite the windows being shut, (due to mosquitoes) this was also very disturbing. After a storm the air-conditioning stopped altogether, but was repaired after contacting the owner. It dripped water a lot of the time and we put towels etc underneath.
The pool area is lovely and private, although there is a dog which barks a great deal on a very close neighbouring property. We understand that this is not the owner's fault but if you are hoping to relax in peace and quiet, it is really annoying. In addition and again not the fault of the owner, there is a really awful countryside smell that comes and goes. We live in a village and are used to this, but this was particularly bad.
We did have intermittent hot water - turning showers on and off seemed to kick start this overall.
The toilet has a nasty stained water level and in the living room there is an electric socket hanging off the wall. The fridge needs replacing as the items at the back become frozen and the salad baskets are missing as is one of the door shelves where you would put milk etc.
We did manage to have a reasonable holiday overall with lovely visits over the border in Bosnia to Mostar, Kravica Waterfalls and two visits to the Blue Lake in Imotski omly 10 minutes away.
